No ,you see they have excelled in things like archery ,where some dalit known face represents India at the olympics, however always without medals
They are Scheduled Tribes, you are talking of. STs are good at archery and shooting sports.
Scheduled Tribes are given reservation for their cultural and spatial assimilation into India. Scheduled Castes are given reservation for their social and political assimilation in Indian mainstream.
Social and cultural indicators of STs vastly differ from those of SCs. STs fare much better on cultural and social indicators.
There is subtle difference b/w the philosophical aims of affirmative action for SCs and STs.
Whatever the context is, Javed Akhtar should never have called wrestlers as 'hardly literate'. This is unacceptable.
I tend to keep myself aloof from such high-decibel political dramas but I am observing that these liberal-intellectuals are highly arrogant people. And all of them are treating Indian Army as something expendable. As soon as someone makes reference to Army in a debate, they start dismissing the argument. This is a new trend I have seen. Dismiss any reference to Army!!
Aisaa lag rahaa h ki ye log doodh ke dhule hain and baaki sab inke liye thook baraabar hain!!
Ye maine bhi notice kiya hai.
And Javed Akhtar ne joote khaane layak kaam kiya hai. Jo kuchh bhi ho raha hai sab BJP ko political mileage provide kar raha hai UP me !!
In U.S. the black community is just like the dalit community of India. They get reservation in govt. jobs and special assistance in college admissions.
But unlike India the black community there has developed its own sub-culture. Hip-hop music, dressing style, talking style, dance style etc. some sports like basketball, boxing, rugby football, body-buildingsprint etc. has come to be associated with them.
And people all over the world take pride in following their sub-culture.
But Dalits in India have developed no such sub-culture or anything like that. All we see from Dalits is demands for more reservation and occasional police cases. Dalit leaders in India really need to take cue from US and work on it. If blacks can progress culturally and materially why can't dalits.
Comparing dalits with blacks is wrong. Blacks ,meaning ,negroes are the only race who dont have any contribution towards human civilization. There was no civilization where negro race ruled..Some of them excel in sports which doesnt attribute due to their biology....but to environmental factors...

Sala yeh media in cheezon ko kyon itna publicity deta hai? WTF do they really want? Learn something from China and Pakistan for once and stop publicising these issues. Some stupid bawal in some stupid college should never have been given so much importance. It should just have been reported to the authorities and they should have taken appropriate action. Yeh sala media double game khel raha hai.
It is highlighted because 1) It is related to the fundamental rights given to the citizens of India by the constitution. Without it there would be dictatorship and no democracy. Human right is a hypothetical concept. It applies only when powerful people want to apply it for some motive. Rest of the time it is just like a picture of god on the wall - great to look at and pray, but useless.)
2) Human rights needs to be saved or else we will be just machines working at the whips of our political masters (too late)
3) Media is fourth pillar of democracy. (today it is the 4th political party of democracy - after incumbent, opposition and bureaucracy) A few years of individual fame and eternity of National Shame and embarrassment is what the media is duty-bound to prevent. When the executive fails to implement the constitution and police becomes impotent and slave of its political masters, media will have to highlight the issue so that our democracy doesnt turn into dictatorship like that of Hitler. Hitler was very popular but now the world hates him and Germany will always be remembered for genocide and human right violation. Germany would never be able to dissociate itself with what a single person was responsible for. (Public memory is short and unreliable. Hoping that media would be a messiah is like expecting a politician to be 100% honest)
4) Media needs to educate the people about their fundamental rights. And in bringing up such issues, the media ensures everyone in the country to know what their rights are (most of whom never had the chance to understand fully their rights due to faulty education system). (Media is a commodity in the hands of those in power used for propaganda. Its primary purpose has become demagogy.)
5) Today one party is in power, tomorrow another party may be in power. (they are faces of the same coin) If we dont protest today, it will set a precedent for the coming party to violate our fundamental rights. This cant be allowed to happen. The media by raising such issue puts pressure on the ruling party so that the ruling party doesnt take it that there will be no opposition whatever they do for any cause however much important it is. Rule of law should be followed and enforced and the media is ensuring it. (ROFLMAO.)
You are right that this was a law and order problem and the perpetrators should have been stopped at the gate and arrested. But police is mute cause the goons are affiliated to the ruling party. This is dangerous. Remember, today they came for them and you did not speak, tomorrow they will come for you and there will be no one to speak.
Either you're naive or have some relation to someone in the media. Not everyone in media is bad. But good people do not survive in the media business for long or do not remain good for long or do not remain in business for long. They need to either work for politicians or work as entertainment channels for the people. News is just another name for live entertainment.
1) If you feel human rights is an imaginary concept, then I am sorry to say that you have failed the IAS preparation. May be u will be IAS someday but u wont have the values required for being in the services. And if you really believe in this "Humans right is hypothetical concept", you better be ready to give up ur human rights with the onset of new govt in power. 2) "too late" is not a valid argument 3) Hoping against Hope is the human spirit which has taken human kind so far. Its the reason of our freedom and development. Being fatalistic serves no purpose. If you feel so fatalistic, then it seems u r preparing for Civil services just for money and power. Too bad that is. Not everything is 100% pure. Not everything is black and white. Media is still better than the corrupt and dividing politicians. 4) Politics and education are all propoganda. This is a war of ideology and every one is trying to keep their agenda first. What is good for one is bad for another. One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist. Case in point Nelson Mandela. Being conservative or liberal or progressive are all ideologies. It all depends on what kind of person is at the helm. Even a autocratic king can be the best for his citizen and even a democratically elected leader can push a country into chaos. There are right wing channels and there are left wing channels. You can choose whatever u like. If you find right wing channels more logical and rational, go with them or vice versa. Just fact check the news and their reliability. Make a rational logical decision. 5) Again, "they both are two faces of same choice" is a fatalistic argument. This wont take us anywhere. We need to take a path and move towards progress. Again, (ROFLMAO.) is not a valid argument. Seems you mock people rather than countering their valid points.
I dont have any media links. Your attitude is too cynical. Please reevaluate your position or you wont fare well in the interviews. Also, you need to improve your critical thinking skills. Please present cogent and valid arguments.
Opinions backed by facts and valid arguments will be helpful in taking our country forward. Good Luck
