Myth about CSAT 2015

edited June 2015 in CSAT
Friends, i read some comments of some candidates who are propagating some myths regarding CSAT 2015..I want to clear these myths so that people dont get confused.

Myth 1:CSAT 2015 will be very tough paper on the lines of CAT.

Reality:Its not going to happen in any case. The diffiulty level of paper will not be more than that of CSAT 2014.Actually the intention of Dopt and Upsc behind making CSAT qualifying is very clear:it was discriminatory to rural and humanities students.By making CSAT paper 2015 too difficult, will not they be perpetuating the same discrimation ? Trust me , they will never go against their own intention of making GS the one and only basis of selection in pre.So dont worry at all..

Myth 2: Attempt only maths and reasoning question and try to reach to 100.Skip comprehension questions as they are very ambiguous.

Reality:This might prove to be very dangerous.Despite all tall claims, maths-reasoning questions may be tricky and accuracy level may fall.I know one engineer friend who, due to his overconfidence did 6 maths questions wrong, though he thought them to be correct. So dont fall into the trap.Attempt the paper normally as you did in earlier years..Attempt all the questions which u can answer comfortably including comprehension.Try to score as much as possible. What is the harm if u get 130-140 marks?

So i think ideal thing is to give around 10% preparation time to CSAT and 90% time to GS.Means if you read 90 days for pre exam, give at least 9 days for CSAT and 81 days for GS. Good luck

    Yes sir...Its enough.

  • UPSC had bought back its factual type questions previous year , but that does not guarantee to repeat this year . Nor they would ask plenty of Googlies .. :D ..

Always expect mixed bag approach from UPSC , to play safe . Make it simple , play ball by ball . Dont think too much . Leave the question(ball) if you find it tricky . No more blind guessing . Even intelligent guessing should be limited to 10-20 questions .

Solve previous years QP Arihant Publications or Disha Publications to gain confidence

    All the best .. :)>-
