[CSM] Electrical Engineering - 2016 [Preparation Group]

edited April 2015 in Miscellaneous
Hello everyone!

I’m starting my preparation for CSE - 2016 with Electrical Engineering as my optional. The reasons are (exactly same as @bulla has already mentioned):

1. Graduation (EEE, BE.).
2. Other options (ESE, GATE) (Technical job OR Masters) (backup).
3. Can be a scoring optional (if worked hard, that is).
4. No need to write too much (compared to the subjects of Arts and Humanities).
5. I have a sort of liking towards it.

I have created this thread to bring together equally motivated, like-minded and serious aspirants having the same optional for the year 2016. \m/

The aim is to have group discussions, suggestions, answer writing practice, notes sharing, books, strategy, solving doubts/problems etc... (Whatever that would help us to get a good score in this paper). :)>-

We have around 8 months+ (till December 2015) from this month (April) onwards; I guess this is the proper time to kickstart our preparation. :!!

I request the esteemed moderators to kindly give this thread a fair amount of time to blossom, failing which it may be closed. :)

Lets go!! :D

  • I am also preparing for CSE-2016 with electrical optional. I think it is pretty scoring if we can get a strong hold over the subject. Having said that the syllabus is huge and we have to manage it along with the wide GS part and it can get stressful during the final days.
    But now there being 1 optional with 500 marks, science/engg subjects can have an edge over humanities students in the long run, and we can very well score nearer to 300, whereas that will be impossible with traditional subjects like history/geography.

    we can discuss and post queries/doubts here and make this tread engaging. what say?
  • I would give a suggestion for a question-answer related session for electrical engineering. And basic and important formulas to be uploaded here. These would be helpful for other co-aspirants also.
  • why the output of an op-amp does not respond immediately to the fast changing input?
  • @sriniwas @GeneralKuribayashi @upsc_taxidriver all right! lets roll

    which topic/chapter/subject you are preparing now?

    I'm thinking of starting with digital electronics.
  • why the output of an op-amp does not respond immediately to the fast changing input?
    this came in the mains exam. I wrote about slew rate in around half a page and effect of capacitances. Not sure how far its correct.

    lets do random questions from random subjects but of the level of UPSC.
    uploading screenshot of solutions is also possible here.
    We can focus more on steps to be followed rather than on actual answers.
    We can solve atleast one question per day.
    A lot depends on the thread starter guy @G_P_92 . You have to be active here. Otherwise the thread will disappear into darkness.

    ans 8c of paper 2 on power electronics, @upscguy have verified it. pls verify it whether the steps are correct or not.

    speed from slip s= (Ns-Nr)/Ns , we find Nr

    Tavg = (T1 ton+ T2 toff) /(ton + toff)
    T2 = 0.8 T1 & ton = toff
    so we get Tavg.

    second case
    Tavg= 25 so apply the above formular T1 ton+ T2 toff /(ton +toff)
    Here Tavg changed due to change of duty cycle ,putting values of T1 and T2 from above we get new ton/toff
  • @GeneralKuribayashi yes! I'll try my best. :D
    But, 2016 will be my first attempt and I'm guessing you've already attempted it once. Have you? :)

    I'll be starting with any one subject real soon. And whatever I'll come across (doubts/material/suggestions etc.) I'll post it here. So, is it the correct way of doing things? or should I be doing something else?

    Thanks in advance :D
