i haven't read it. read the whole book at once, like a novel but with full concentration as to get an idea of the contemporary situation of the country. then go for selective reading.
India since independence is also bulky but i found it very interesting to read. i dont know about india after gandhi. But ramchandra guha is an amazing writer the book MUST be interesting
i imo guys we are taking the subsections to intensively than needed.....topics like world history wont have questions which need you to buy a complete specialised book for them....the questions related to such subsections will be general imo....some decent browsing even on wikipedia would be good for such subtopics imo....just my view...

I'm in 2 minds regarding this book.
1. Have heard very good reviews about this book, looks pertinent in the new syllabus.
2. Its bulky, almost scares me away. Only reason for me not buying it till now.

Yaa!, that MUST BE INTERSTING part with NEW SYLLABUS is driving me crazy and making it difficult to say NO to that book.
