Lots of questions can come from economy, budget, Eco survey, Stock Mkts etc.
Care to discuss?

Will they ask? I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised by them. Did they ask you last time if in case you made it to PI.
  • @geeta & @Thor - Can you please share the questions asked or can be asked ?? We can discuss the same..

    thanks
  • @Thor

No, didn't make it last time to PI.
I prefer they ask finance rather than science or history. Thats where I am going to go kaput!

Guess preparing the economic survey thoroughly and keeping touch with ET, Mint can be the best bet. Maybe lookout for RBI, SEBI notifications. I doubt if there will be CFA levels questions hurled. But then one really can't be too sure of things.
  • 1. Greece - Eurozone kickout, QE its implications
    2. Falling Crude prices, did we do right in the budget on fiscal front or could have been better
    3. Subsidy and also green tax kind of things
    4. Inflation, monetary easing - RBI; is it doing right
    5. cut in social spending and fiscal decentralization, good or bad?
    6. The Vodafone issue and Mauritius route - LOB clause?
    7. Is Sensex/NSE a true measure of growth or how are stocks valued?

    corp Finance
    1. Sharada
    2. NSEL scam

GDP accounting gimmick - move from factor cost to market prices - with falling IIP is it any good?

I will add a few more finance centric ones, let me think a little.
  • So, basically it would have to be anything from economics. I feel they are likely to ask macro level questions rather than getting into micro aspects. Financial crisis, EU situation, effect of Fed cutting interest rates, etc ?

Definitely policy making and macroeconomics - I do not think they will ask us what equity beta is or what efficient market is per se.
  • Gaurav aggarwal was asked about what derivatives are.so to assume that classic finance cant be asked is I think incorrect
  • @ggarg

you need to understand he was working as a I Banker in HK for 3 years. It is not like I am PGDM hence I need to be asked and also asking what a Derivative is a pretty straight forward question.

Now, If I ask, what is this CDS widening when there is talk of Greek Exit. That is finance.
  • I actually have done cfa. So I am worried about them getting technical *glum*
I was thinking of revising at least the level 1 course so the basics are ok.

@thor - thank you for the list. So the focus should be on macro and current ? Thats pretty doable. I prefer that to the cut and dry academic questions
