Editorials and related doubts

edited February 2015 in Current Affairs
Hello all
I guess there would be many apart from me who struggle to understand a particular editorial of Hindu or of any other newspaper relevant to upsc. So i thought of making this thread as a place to seek and help those who are not able to understand things.

  • I'll start first, though i feel the quality and relevance of editorials (from gs point of view) from the past few weeks has deterioted but they are important to read for essay and comprehension part so they can't be ignored.

I am not sure if today's editorial "The rise of liberal right intellectual" is relevant for CSE but if somebody could explain me the 'renewed self consciousness' portion i'll be thankfull.
  • @all koi toh reply karo. Or nobody understood the editorial?

@cupcake I think he is trying to tell us that, the right wing intellectuals have so far been neglected if not suppressed. With the left oriented congress leading from the front, left ideology had dominated from universities to media etc etc. Now that BJP has come to power, right is regaining some of its powers = renewed self consciousness

Finally he conveys that in our country, we don't give value to opinions based on the content, but we judge it based on the person saying it.

I term these sort of articles as "philosophical" and don't pay much attention to them from exam POV :)
  • ^thanks dhanveer
  • Urmm can somebody explain todays editorial on regional literatures in hindu? What is the crux of the article? I guess its vis-a-vis english but most of it went above my head. :(
