  • @Kalicharan -

Your email id is the only information we are fetching to be able to identify you. And in andriod systems, g+ login is the fastest way to get you started. Please be assured that such logins (g+ or facebook) do not allow for intrusion or spamming. They are standardised in that way. Moreover, no one in your contact/ friend list knows what apps you are using until you chose to tell them so.

The idea behind a unique login is this -
In the short term we want to do that because much of our features need to uniquely identify our user. Eg. In our next release we're introducing a 'know more'/'follow' button that will give you more news on that topic either by mailing you or probably putting a piece up on the website. In the long term we want to introduce features around personalization. Something like you haven't spent time on 'geography'. Please go through these cards.

    Brilliant initiative!

Please consider adding the ability to browse through the articles in a list mode, and also the ability to filter items by category in list mode.

  • Hope you are reading from the cards! A sneak-peek of today's cards. Attached are a few screenshots.

There are over 120 cards in the app now. Those who have not downloaded, download the app from the Playstore.

The app is working flawless on Motorolla and Nexus. Sony and HTC might have some font resolution issues and we are fixing it by this week.
  • Folks,

We have started to include the jist of articles shared by ForumIAS mods in our Civils Daily's Android App .

We think that we can break down some of the factual articles into bullet points and push it in our app for easier readability and recall. For you to benefit the most out of such articles, share them around with your friends and discuss on the finer details... I am sure most of us have study groups on whatsapp where we can debate/ discuss/ gain more information.

Attached are the screenshots of three of such articles shared today by ForumIAS mods!

If this initiative continues from the mods, then we can think of making this a sustainable model going forward along with our own researched news bytes :)
  • Hi friends,

News bytes from Insights on India's daily writing challenge added on the Civils Daily's Android App from 24th Feb 2015.

Those who attempt the Secure Mains 2015 writing challenge everyday, keep the good work going! Those of us who want to get quick facts from the news links shared there, keep checking the app updates everyday.

Screenshots attached for those who haven't downloaded the app yet or are facing issues with the app.

  • News cards added for the articles shared by ForumIAS on 25th Feb (today) on the Civils Daily's Android App

For those who haven't yet downloaded the app or are having difficulties in it, screenshots attached.

Do let us know if this proves helpful for handy revision.
  • Very nice initiative.... would it be possible to have swipe feature to scroll through articles rather than clicking on a button?
  • @The_Asiprant - We are coming up with something even better for ease of the news scroll. Expect an update by the end of the week.

The idea is to make the mobile screen extremely easy to use and effortless to operate for the cards. We are trying our hands at Amazon Kindle inspired page-turn logic. Google karo whenever you have free time - you will find it interesting.

  • Some of you might be not getting daily updates even though we push news bytes twice everyday.

That is because of a minor server fetch bug which some of the models are facing. We are cleaning it out before our next release but for now, if you do not get fresh cards after pressing the HOME button on left, try closing the app from the task manager and then re-open :)

PS: Just half an hour ago, we pushed important points from the Secure Mains initiative from Insights on India's latest question set. Check the app, let us know how you find it?
