2015 Daily Answer Writing Challenge

edited January 2015 in Anthropology
Hi Friends,
I wrote CSM 2014 Mains with Anthropology and felt that the paper is very crackable with decent writing practice... So I have decided to write answers daily topic wise... As you must be aware already, Anthropology does not have much scope in terms of coaching and test series, the best option would be peer review.. So the plan is simple... Each day I would put some questions, related to a single topic in the syllabus...The range of questions would be exhaustive, each and every topic and sub topic would be covered... The questions would be from past years .... I take the responsibility of arranging the questions and putting it up here for the next 6 months ( if the response is positive)... The topics can be decided based on popular demand.. As a starting point I am beginning with

8. Research methods in anthropology:
Fieldwork tradition in anthropology
Distinction between technique, method and methodology
Tools of data collection: observation, interview, schedules, questionnaire, Case study, genealogy, life-history, oral history, secondary sources of information, participatory methods.
Analysis, interpretation and presentation of data.

This topic seems trivial but questions are asked every year.. For future course please suggest topics... We can completely cover this topic over the next 6-7 days....

Q. Genealogical Method [2014][10 marks]
Q. Field work tradition in Anthropology. [2014][10 marks]

Q. Discuss the relevance of case study method of data collection. [2013] [20 marks].

Q. What are the tools of data collection? Discuss the advantages and limitations of participant-observations as a technique of data collection. [2012]. [20 marks]

Q. Fieldwork tradition in Anthropology. [2011][15 marks]

Q. What do you understand by the following terms? [2010][30 marks]
(i) Systemic sampling
(ii) Stratified sampling
(iii) Multistage sampling
For what kind of anthropological researches will you use each them and why? [2010][30 marks]

Please post your answers so that we can have a detailed discussion... Next set of questions (same topic) will be uploaded tomorrow.. I repeat I take the responsibility of putting up questions over the next six months If the response is encouraging...

  • @Viprav_01 im in. But i have a doubt.. im doing physical anthro now. Havent started Research Methodologies. So how do u propose we coordinate this answer writing?
  • Hi Robin.. as I said personally I am flexible about topics ... lets get started once, we can agree on topics for next 2-3 weeks in advance so that we can time our preparations accordingly... anthro doesnt have much interconnectivity between topics so hopping topics would not be problem
  • hi viprav

  • Hi Hsnema.. please see ur inbox.. as far source material for research technique, u can download a pdf by searching Russel-Research-Method-in-Anthropology ..it a bulky PDF ... but can be read selectively as per the question demand
