[CSE Mains 2014] Question Paper Discussion for Medical Science

Hi friends.
Was reading few comments of fellow medicos on the other thread so decided to create this thread.
I am appearing for the 2nd time so maybe my experience helps you. Some suggestions and observations from my side. Plz feel free to add to them-

There will be no shortage of time if paper is on previous yr pattern so relax.
Last yr 1 day before exam i was like 'kuch nai aata' but still i managed to put up a decent show, even this yr the feeling is same so relax.
If you happen to score good then dont be too happy you will be scaled down. Happened to me thats why telling in advance.
Select questions that you attempt very smartly as this can vary your score by +-20-30 marks.
Feel relaxed as your optional has an edge over other subjects if you have basic knowledge. Eg for scoring 200 in pub ad you need to work like a horse and i am sure for 200 in ms you need just a little efforts as you have already worked like a horse in your mbbs(if only you have :D)

So all the best everyone.

One question if anyone know do Upsc also does scaling ?

Scaling is done in upsc brother
Some subjects are scaled up others scaled down.
  • Neither I am a medico nor my optional is MS, yet i came here only to find that whatever you have written is correct verbatim for my optional (EE) too. I guess all the science optionals are like that only. @-)
  • @oceanus @ArindamSarkar

Neither I have taken EE nor MS, I m bechara geography ka Mara =))

Okay if I had known that I would have done some research in that regard while deciding my optional ,scaling sounds too technical to me does anyone including u tell me which subjects mostly get scaled up or down ; or that too depends on far too many variables to have generalized answer.

In the end it's just information which unless too significant not going to make me change my optional sociology as already lot of energy invested in socio still better to know.
Plz do inform n enlightened me
  • @dusrath123 bhai scaling is dependent upon the performance of students in the concerned subject every year. If majority score high scaling is in downward direction if majority score low then scaling is in the upward direction. All this in comparison to how students have performed in other subjects.

Find threads related to scaling after mains for details. ATB.
  • Bhai logo kuch yaad h kya?? :-((

Don't worry. Geo isn't that bad. You wouldn't have opted for it otherwise. Best of luck for tomorrow. :)
