I don't think there's a thread for this (is there?) So I write like a neurally-challenged koala and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Any tips from fast writers would be very welcome.
i am fast in writing by using 2 fingers (index and middle) alternately with thumb and moving hands simultaneously to and fro. (but dont ask me about quality of content)
So last time, for most of the GS papers, I wrote about 15-16 questions "properly", 5-6 "a little" scribbled and the remaining 3-5 just filled up whatever I knew in points - which covered like half a page or so. I got about 310/1000 in GS which is supposed to be somewhat decent. I know for a fact that writing faster, I can definitely write a little more and increase my score by 10-20 at least, but so far, practice has been a damp squib. Simply not able to better 10 minutes for a proper answer. With exactly a month to go, simply clueless about whether to focus on improving speed by practising writing or reading more stuff so the flow of answers somehow helps the speed. Kanfyooshan. :-??
I'm closing this thread down to keep it all together. No hard feelings. Kindly carry on on the older and larger thread. No hard feelings / offence intended.
I am reopening this discussion, because the other thread includes other strategies like time management for completing the paper. This thread focuses exclusively on speed.
It has been an issue for me since childhood. I had issues finishing board papers.
@ArindamSarkar have any tips for writing speed ? Any links , videos would be helpful.
@santhanam you looked like the kind of guy who would have Ana amazing writing speed, somehow. But glad you created this thread.
It is damn difficult. Definite trade-off between quality and speed. If you strategically pick and choose to not do some questions, you are doomed, and if you write shit you are doomed. Only divine (read UPSC) intervention can solve it. Hope they change the pattern a little this time and realise it is not stenos they are looking for but administrators. Best exam for selection therefore should be - how fast you can sign on files. Lol
