@MarvHartigan Sure, they all seem busy So, should I buy all 3: Ritzer, Harlambos & Giddens? :-? Or buy 2, use 1 as pdf? Which 2 would you suggest? Also can paper 2 be started side by side with one? Or should I do thinkers first? I remember this blog(i think Mr. Rajiv's), where he had mentioned an integrated syllabus for both the papers? Can you share the link or anyone who know what i'm talking about?
@Nithya_Nair dear, feel free to comment.. no one really know where they are heading
Okay, hello all. I'm preparing self. Where are u people starting from? I thought it was supposed to be with NCERTs so I got those first. Or should I buy Harlambos/IGNOU/Giddens/Ritzer etc? Do you have any idea about notes making? cc: @khajoor can we get some gyan ppl (:
@crux NCERT is to get acquainted with the subject. IGNOU is best for western thinkers and also for paper-2. You may buy either Haralambos (Holborn) or Giddens. Ritzer is for western thinkers with in-depth analysis. It's PDF is available on the forum. Look for it please. About note-making, it should be undertaken after reading your books at least twice. By this I mean, you know a bit about paper-1.

i heard the optional syllabus will change in 2015... that was expected in 2014 but due to inadequate time and little time gap between pre. and mains , it could not be implemented ... if anyone has any information reg. this pl. share it on this forum....

@INDIA_2015 Let's say the syllabus for sociology changes. So what? Will sociology as a subject change? NO. It's scope will remain the same even if the wording in the syllabus changes. Instead of indulging in such speculations, concentrate on your studies please.

@Evil_Empire I am quite erratic with sociology as of now, but if you get a good grip on the thinkers, i think 1 month would be the max that you need for a detailed study
