India's stand on Iran:The Nuclear Issue

Iran is going ahead with its Nuclear program. Yesterday the Iranian President congratulated her scientists on producing 20% enriched uranium. USA, & EU have both imposed sanctions on Iran for its nuclear program. India has unequivocally said that Iran is a good friend of India and EU & US sanctions are not binding for India. It will only go with UN sanctions

Interestingly, both USA & Russia have vetoed a UN backed sanction against Iran, making it easy for India to maintain good relations with Iran.

Today's TOI contained a very good analysis of Iran's Nuclear Program. I am putting it here-

The thing is in todays times, they have also published an article that USA is saying that iran's nuclear program is just a "hype" and they know that there not any considerable progress or any technological breakthrough in their nuclear program. u can read their article here

even then, they are imposing sanctions on iran and talk of going to war with iran. their hypocrisy and arrogance is out in the open

Yes true, i am also putting the video of the India-EU summit, where the EU Commission President asked India to help EU in its sanctions against Iran, and the Indian PM said no

@karthik we just have to be non-aligned.our initial policy after independence was non-alignment and now also we need to be non-aligned between israel and iran.with israel we have ties in agriculture, defense and urban development.with iran we have energy ties and after exit of use and eu, it can be a huge market for india.

supriyam, yes but energy is more crucial than agriculture. we can tie up for agri with any country like brazil, argentina etc, but for energy we do not have too many options.

True! Iran had ambitions of a nuclear bomb in the past. keep a tab on it for the sake of nuclear non-proliferation. But, North Korea is openly blackmailing the world and doing it but media talks about it only once a while. nor do US threatens it with a millitary attack every now and then. Isn't it a hypocrisy of media as well as international community? or is it that DPRK is already a spoilt child? we can't do anything now. But then it is a failure of sanctions policy. what do you think

the thing is DPRK is politically backed by China and any firm action against DPRK will have repercussions involving Chinese who have a more than strong hand on international trade in the current scenario. also iran can play a veru vital role in shaping the energy crisisfaced by india. not to forget the location on iran on world map and the strategic role it plays( International North-South Transport Corridor) not only in gulf but also india-pak relation.
