Here is the analysis of SSC CGL 2014 TIER 1 EXAM (19TH OCTOBER 2014) Morning Shift

The difficulty level of this years SSC CGL 2014 Tier 1 Exam was slightly higher than the previous year Tier 1 paper of SSC CGL 2013. Last year SSC CGL TIER 1 paper was very easy however this time it was not the case and many candidates found it difficult to attempt more than 125 questions. So cut offs are definitely expected to shoot down. Obviously some exceptional candidates also appear every year whose attempts with accuracy are in the range of 150 to 180 but we do not need to be exceptional for clearing this paper. Hard work with dedication and temperament is enough to get us through. So if any one is bragging to you that the paper was very easy and they have attempted around 140 to 150 questions and all the questions are correct and blah blah blah blah.....Do not listen to them. Desperate people in order to flaunt there talent (which they do not have) will brag in front of you. Strict Warning - Do not listen to them.

Now let us have a section wise look at the paper -

Section 1 - Quantitative Aptitude(SSC CGL 2014 TIER 1 (19th Oct 2014) Analysis and Estimated Cut Offs) Morning Shift -

Around 15 to 20 questions in this section were very easy. So the first strategy of the successful candidate would be to identify those questions and solve them first because they will take less time and will increase your confidence in order to solve the other questions of this section. Around 15 questions were easy but time taking. They were of the conventional type but required some amount of calculation which would have taken some amount of time to solve. Around 10 to 15 questions of this section were difficult and in order to solve we need to have good command over the basics of maths in order to crack them quick. 40 attempts with accuracy would a good performance in this section.

    Section 2 - Reasoning(SSC CGL 2014 TIER 1 (19th Oct 2014) Analysis and Estimated Cut Offs) Morning Shift -

Reasoning this year was as usual. There was not much difference in the difficulty level of SSC CGL 2012, 2013 and 2014 Tier 1 in the reasoning section. 40 attempts with good accuracy is a good performance in this section.

Section 3 - General Knowledge(SSC CGL 2014 TIER 1 (19th Oct 2014) Analysis and Estimated Cut Offs) Morning Shift -

Not very easy and also not very difficult. As the marking is - 1/4 some amount of chances can be taken in this section. Any score in excess of 20 in this section would be considered as good and if you are able to score more than 25 number in this section it will provide you an added leverage.

Section 4 - English Language and Comprehension(SSC CGL 2014 TIER 1 (19th Oct 2014) Analysis and Estimated Cut Offs) Morning Shift -

According to me this section of SSC CGL is scoring. Whenever I have attempted SSC CGL I have always attempted all 50 questions of this section. The comprehension passages were not as easy this year as they were in SSC CGL 2013 TIER 1 RE-EXAM. Grammatical Error finding questions were of moderate difficulty level. Any attempt above 40 with accuracy is a good performance in this section.

Paper Analysis and Estimated Cut offs of SSC CGL TIER 1 2014 Evening Session of 19th October 2014 -

For the evening shift I would not write section wise analysis as it would be not of much use as the sectional performance assessment is almost the same and for me the cut off prediction for the evening paper is almost identical to the morning shift. In some quarters students are saying that the evening paper was very easy compared to the morning paper and in others they are saying that the morning paper was more easy than the evening one. For me I have an opinion that both the papers were of almost same difficulty level but not identical. There was a slight difference in the difficulty level of the paper but I would not like to specifically mention whether the morning or evening paper was more difficult because either of my statement would create an apprehension among many students. SSC always has the habit of manipulating difficulty levels across various sections and different students have different strong areas which influence their performance across various questions sets. However I am open to solve any of your specific query. You can drop query in comment section below. According to me -

  • @ashishv05 der wl nt be any normalization mate
i found my set in eveng paper similar to one of morning paper der were nly 2-3 ques which were more lengthier nd i think a good student wid proper prep can score equally well i had mine in evng bt i slvd da morning one also after da exam for my frnds nd i found both of dem vry similar nyways i must say ur correct ppl claiming dis to be da easiest in history r vry wrong even though its my 1st paper bt ive seen last yrs paper nd sm section lyk eng was pretty damn straight forward
@borat ive seen dis post nd it is true dat der wl be sm expectional bt one neednt worry abt it as i blv nythng above 120 is a grt score nd if one scores around 310-350 in tier-2 alng wid a score of 115-120 in tier-1den i think wuld be sufficient to land in a gud interview post :) :) :)>-
  • How much are you guys expecting the cutoff to be? :-B
  • Guys how was today's paper?

  • guys I have one querry
Invigilator in our room was BC, he gave us wrong OMR so we filled wrong test form no. thn he realized his mistake and used whitenerin our OMRs to correct it, but he used whitener on one of my rightly filled bubble too. So
    1) Firstly I used whitener, Is it OK to use it.
2)Secondly I had filled my details on the circle where whitener was already used. If whitener fluid is not being recognized by machine then the dark circle over the whitener also not be recognized
