Recently, India-Bangladesh maritime dispute was in news. However, I have been finding contradictory opinions on the internet regarding the decision on the dispute by the UN Tribunal. While most of the headlines claim that the verdict has been in favor of Bangladesh, at some places the tribunal is said to have kept Indian interests intact while agreeing with our line of argument. Has anyone gone through the verdict and done any analysis?
Also, the line of argument from both the parties involve usage of technical terms like Equidistance Line & Angle Bisector Method apart from the usual 12 NM/200 NM and continental shelf theories of territories. Can someone please explain these terms/methods in a lucid fashion?
