Last year I wrote a couple of practice essays before exam, both of them around 1200-1300 words. And I had decided it was going to be my strategy. But I was a bit thrown by the new word limit of 2500 words. Wondering if they wanted us to write more because essay now carried more marks, i wrote about 1800 words and completely spoiled the flow of the essay. it went on and on like a rant towards the end.
I got 83 eventually (33%) while i had 100+ (50%) in each of my previous two attempts. Even though my choice of topic- colonial mentality- might have played a big part, I wonder if someone got good marks 125+ with a short essay (say less than 1200 words) this time.
obviously there can be no correlation, but just wondering if a rather short essay precluded someone from getting good score in his opinion.

But I don't think word limit was a problem at all for my low score; I actually couldn't get the topic and wrote in a negative way, just see how bad my essay was X_X
