  • This is what my "Teacher" from TestCracker mailed me... Very realistic.. ALL THE BEST EVERYONE..!!!

“My will shall shape the future. Whether I fail or succeed shall be no man's doing but my own. I am the force; I can clear any obstacle before me or I can be lost in the maze. My choice; my responsibility; win or lose, only I hold the key to my destiny…” ~ Elaine Maxwell

You own 24th of August 2014. If things go wrong, you will be still be above the cut-off, nevertheless through to the next round. If things go your way, not that it matters, you will be the topper of this Round 1 of the mother of all examinations.

We must keep this simple maths in mind:

Assuming that this year’s level of competition is the same as the last year, and combining it with the fact that 9 Qs (the easy ones!) aren’t contributing to the marks, this is how you can be safe –

Total Qs Attempts Correct Wrong Score
    Paper I 100 75 55 20 97
    Paper II 71 65 55 10 129
    Overall 226

You obviously don’t know whether your responses are correct or not while marking them. Therefore your task is simple – attempt at least 75 Qs in Paper I & 65 in Paper II.

75 plus attempts in Paper I is possible: We assure you that even last years’ toppers and their grandfathers cannot be 100% sure on 40% of the answers. Therefore, they did what you will do tomorrow – mark as many as possible, as reasonably as possible. No blind guesses are required. But once you have eliminated two of the four options, go for the one which ‘feels’ more right than the other. Don’t spend time unnecessarily on any question. Most candidates finish Paper I with half an hour remaining.

In the questions where you are given statements I, II, III…followed by answer options: Try to find out the statement which is definitely correct or incorrect – go to the options and eliminate or select.
Trust your instincts – they will guide you to the right answer. Don’t just skip questions because you think they come from a topic you haven’t prepared for.

65 plus attempts in Paper II is possible: Frankly, CSAT paper can be completed two times in two hours if you just get rid of your unwarranted fears. Just move fast, don’t let your mind get trapped by few Qs. Any Q that keeps you held up for more than two minutes should be let go of. You come back to it once you have dealt with other Qs.

The comprehension part will contribute 22-25 Qs, ALL OF THEM EASY; FEW OF THEM SILLY. You should solve them in not more than 30 minutes.
The Reasoning Qs should be attempted towards the middle of the exam – leaving them for the end may not be a good idea because they come in sets of 3-4. All you got to do is prepare a quick table and relate the statements given to the table. Things will fall in place automatically.
The Quant Qs are simple - just read the question, prepare equation and solve it. If you get stuck try to work with the options directly.
Don’t get intimidated by any “new type” of Q; by design the CSAT paper is kept simple. Otherwise it will be deemed “unfair” and candles will be lit again in DelhiJ

Here are a few suggestions on what you should (or should not) do on 24th August 2014:

Block all thoughts on Sunday morning. You check your roll number, mark your room, wait for the bell, enter the room and wait for the paper to be given to you.
You deal with the paper, one question at a time. Assume that every answer you mark is correct, even if it is a blind guess. No panic, no celebration. You are solving the paper bit by bit. You don’t carry the residue of the previous question to the current question.
Maintain a steady rhythm throughout. Make steady progress.
Between the two papers: NO NEED TO DISCUSS PAPER I. Eat your lunch - the lighter the better – and mentally prepare yourself for the second paper. It may be a good idea to carry few questions you have solved previously (no new Qs please) – warm up with these Qs during the break.

We wish you the very best. If you are at your best, you will be through. The trick is in controlling all emotions while answering the papers.

You, dear friend, are designed to clear this examination. If you can only be calm and quick on 24th August, you will discover how dots get connected automatically.

We will see you on Monday, 25th August, 5 pm onwards….when we discuss the two papers you cracked on 24th August.

    Confident of your success,

    Team TestCracker
