IMHO one should not rely totally upon any coaching wala current affairs notes and stop reading newspapers entirely. But what one can and should do is complement the newspaper reading with these notes as there will be some news which you might skip or don't have access to as it's from some other newspaper. Also they are a quick source of revision. But there is no substitute for daily newspaper reading.

The visionias monthly material covers almost all the important topics. But at the end it will be over 800 pages long for 11 months. The idea is that you should be familiar with the current topics by making regular notes from newspapers and revising them. The vision notes will help you to cover any topics that you might have missed or give you some additional analysis, points and background for the important topics. Same is the case with mrunal. As per my view, vision material, Mrunal's weekly and your own notes from hindu and one more newspaper will suffice for the current affairs part.

@Dreamer14 Hey, From where to buy these notes in 3500 ? All that i can see in visionias website that there is a consolidated programme for current affairs notes and test series for some 16000 rupess . I do not want to enroll in their test series , just want their current affairs notes .

when you go to their page there is an option to go to older versions of their module..click on that and then there will be many options..and i think number 23 is for current affairs module priced at 3500..
If anybody is reading newspapers thoroughly, CA notes of any institute is nothing but time waste. Trust yourself, UPSC isn't going to ask the type of questions which these CA notes try to answer.

allmost all current affair questions in 2013 mains can be answered from visionias notes
I m saying seriously that reading newspaper plus vision material will be enough...one can not do more than this for ca..nd moreover revision is more important..so better to revise same material more nd more time..nd i hv tried lot of material last year but not at all doing that hefty way this time...that was just waste of time..so just be clear nd focused...hindu plus vision...but this shd be honestly done..
