How to increase file size of signature jpeg file

Hi Friends,

I'm trying to apply for RBI Grade B exam. As you may be aware the signature needs to be 140x60 image size and 10-20KB file size. But when I resize the image to anything near 140x60 the file size automatically reduces to 3-4KB. Is there any way we can increase the signature file size to over 10KB.

Please help.

Thanks!!

  • use online conversion tools. they give option of dimensions and file size. search in google. i have used earlier but forgot the name
  • Firstly thanks for the reply.

I have been trying to get this working for at least 6 hours now. All the solutions I could find on web help to control the image size (pixels), but not the file size. The moment I decrease the image size to 140x60 file size drops to ~4 KB. If I upload a pic with higher resolution it is getting squeezed and hence not clear.

I'm actually surprised there is no other discussion on the same topic. Due to this illogical and poor design by RBI/the RBI's vendor I thought more people would be facing the same problem.

    Any help is highly appreciated.
  • you can not increase the size of pic at that resolution..
try to upload the pic of integral multiple of pic resolution
    like 280x120 of 570x80
take scan image of your photograph not mobile pic..
  • Agreed, Atul. I think we can not increase the size at 140X60 (unless we use tool like photoshop which isn't free).

For now I went ahead and submitted the pic with a higher resolution - atleast the application process is completed - though it is liable to be rejected for not adhering to the recommended pixel dimensions.

I must say UPSC pre process is much more well thought out. Hopefully RBI/it's vendor will soon find their common sense.
  • @PremierWillow
don't worry it's NOT liable to be rejected, the resolution is just recommended not essential, the file size is. this sify/ibps server has this idiotic thing of setting lower limits for file size. it was there last time too. just follow the size limits, dimensions should be just reasonable, if not "recommended".
  • @PremierWillow,there is a juggad to do it if you are using windows.
Right click on image to open its properties,go to details tab.Edit the comments section in it and write anything.click apply/ok and you can see an increase in size. :P

@PremierWillow , to solve your problem there are many tricks, i am telling you the simplest of them :- From internet download a software 'Benvista photoZoom pro' version 5.0 or higher(size 30 mb), here are the links for description of software and the corresponding download link:-
[ Links redacted. Refrain from posting copyvio links on the forum ]

Start the software, make it full version, open the scanned copy of your digi. sign. via this software, then
manuaaly enter the new size in pixels, make aspect ratio :- stretch mode, select resize method : s-spline max,
select presets :- graphics -> extra detailed, that's it you will now be able to get the desired pixel size in the desired file size, do not be afraid that is looking very complicated, because when you start the software all the settings that i have mentioned will be in front of you.....

and obviously if you do not want to do this, then you apply the way suggested by vikas92, this is the simplest way to get your job done without the use of any additional software....☺
  • See the attached image to understand the settings:-

Just download paint.NET - it's a freeware and does everything you need. It's no Photoshop; it's better as it isn't as bloated.

  • @ArindamSarkar, @shashikantiiita, @vikas92, @Mycroft, Thanks for your tips. I'm able to submit the application.
