Preparation Doubt

edited April 2014 in Miscellaneous
Hello friends i have been in confusion lately regrading prelims preparation.
i just want to give you background of my preparation till now

1. gave 1st attempt in 2013 ; reached mains hopeful of interview but didn't make it.
2. Read only general books till march 11
3. From march 21 i have been again preparing my optional and general studies of mains
4. joined test series for both optional and GS ; gave 3 tests yet
5. prelim score in GS paper 1 = 95-110 ; paper 2 = 160-175

So i want to ask all as after which date i have to focus on prelims ONLY ?
As it is getting difficult managing mains and prelims together because i am good at devoting whole week on one subject and pretty bad at meandering between topics.
Kindly Help !!

  • 4 months left for prelims , for you 2 months is more than enough [based on your inputs].
  • @Vibin : thank you :)

@uzma_ali : after submitting your prelims form ......because competition is going to be very fierce this year due to age relaxation and after last year's drastic cut off , no serious candidate should remain in the mood of taking the prelims as granted.......in short yar....dushman ko kabhi bhi kamzor nahi samajhnaa chahiye....nahi to haal Prithviraj Chauhan ( 1192) jaisa ho jata hai.........

Uzma - I am expecting very similar marks in prelims, I am planning to start from 17th May - The day notification is out. I stopped studying optional a while back because of the rumors.

What test series have you joined? I am hoping to finish three GS papers by 17th May and related tests of vision IAS, and then spare out a day or two every week for sociology in case they don't get rid of the optionals. I think three months should be good enough for prelims.

Though devender r right that we should not undermine the importance of prelims, but looking in the time gap between mains and prelims ,it is best to converge both preparation. It is better to first complete overlapping portion of main and pre before pre and then move to topics that are not important in pre like security , IR, world history ,ethics ,pub add, agriculture etc after preliminary .
But remember current Affair is a catch and require much time in note preparation, learning and must be continuous process .
