Need suggestions regarding pros and cons of economics as optional

edited April 2014 in Miscellaneous
I have begun preparations for civil services. In my graduation, I have studied few topics of economics but at a basic level only. I am confused between economics and sociology as optional for 2015. I have studied basic books of both and tried to compare question papers.
1) The questions in Sociology that come are very different each year and subjective in nature. However in technical optionals like Math, Engg, questions are not that diverse each year. In economics paper are the questions similar in pattern to that of previous years questions? For eg. I saw questions on Kalecki and Marshallian coming again and again?
2) How big is syllabus of economics? How much time does it take to cover it?
3) How has been the nature of paper of economics in previous years regarding difficulty level?
4) Is there good coaching available for economics?
Kindly suggest between sociology and economics.
