I had used Sikri for mains and found it a bit dated (covered events only up to 2008 if I remember correctly). Not sure about Ganguly. Make sure whatever book you use it not more than a year old..

This is what I had compiled from various sources, regarding the UPSC member profiles. Some of them are retiring before interviews start. So, when they are appointed we can update the list.

@Ging7- that list seems fresh to me. Chattar Singh, the guy with the ultra-interesting biodata, was only recently inducted. I think they'll all be around.

Is retirement from the panel based on age? Then it should be easy to exclude.

Yup. 6 years or 65. The tenures of all the current members are on the UPSC website. Looks like all will be around. Around half the members are from Haryana-Punjab!

Yes. I thought Rajni Razdan was retiring. But she will on November 2014. So the list I have compiled is the final. \m/

Nothing, it's just that the more you know about what awaits you, the more comfortable you'll be once you're sitting there. The less the element of surprise, the better the performance- even if the surprise is as simple as an unfamiliar face. Try spending some time scrolling through the list @Heyram has been very kind to compile- take in the faces, talk to the pictures, be assured that you'll be facing one of them in a month's time. The faces will slowly become friendly, and without knowing it, you'll have gained advantage over the competition. For most people giving the interview, the board chair will remain a stranger until the bell rings.
    Just my take :)
