@uzma_ali If Norman Lowe is not convincing you then first you should go through the PDFs there by Stardust

After a good look at them Old NCERT by Arjun Dev and Indira Arjun Dev or their History of the World(Blackswan) by the same author.
I found it good to go through PDFs(Ind Revolution) first-then Norman Lowe(selective) and left over topics from NCERT
  • You are talking about Norman Lowe's ,right? It is considered quite a comprehensive book for that part of syllabus. Why didn't you find it useful?Unless we know what you are looking for,one cannot suggest something .

    +1
  • @wasif : i did not find it useful cuz indian perspective was not there . I was looking for some authentic book by an Indian author.
  • Apart from that , it did not cover events from 18th century.

For Indian perspective i think the best book is NCERT-World History(Old) or the History of the World(Same author Arjun Dev)+The Story of Civilization I+II for rest topics: This would be a great combination.
    Time-friendly and content friendly.

Arjun Dev is very crisp and easy to read.

However the syllabus of GS world history is grey area, but considering the questions asked in GS Mains 2013 on World History, Arjun Dev is good.

Still I have identified some topics on world history which might be helpful to aspirants (if anyone interested can have a look on it and can also give feedback if they feel so)

    identified topics
  • What I surmised from above comments is that Arjun Dev+Norman Lowe+NCERT will cover the entire spectrum of syllabus or topics from World History Part of GS.

Correct me if I am wrong !!!
