Yes an IAS officer knows everything .He is omnipresent , omipotent and omniscient .
He can tell you about anything about everything at anytime .
He is an Avatar of G0d himself.

He cant be destroyed by any human weapon or force howsoever deadly it might be in reality except by vagaries of his own nature and few pot bellied politicians .

What sort of question is this and why I am not able to see a moderator note below it !
  • @LuV Lol. :)) Important question hai. Poochne do! You've given correct answer also, no?

The more appropriate question would be: What does an IAS not know?

It would require a shorter answer.
  • I just hope this thread does not turn out into another of those vent my anger or stress buster threads soon X_X

But I really wanted to know the intent of the poster in asking or posing such an innocuous yet intimidating question to all ;;)

He knows enough to qualify the civil services exam. After that its really up to him/her to enrich himself further or take the easy road, because no matter what he will continue to remain an IAS.

Its only a job (granted, a pretty good one), don't think too much about it or the people who are a part of it.
  • An IAS officers knows a lot. But the most knowledgeable also know that they know very little.

Super like. I would rephrase " the more knowledgeable one is, the more one realizes how little he knows"
  • An ias is a genaralist...he knows something about everything....and that is what expected from us as aspirants
  • I don't think an IAS does know everything..
Well in that case he will solve all the questions of Pre i.e will get full marks n you guys already know how many of them get full marks. Also he should also know all questions of mains and will get maximum marks (also depends on answer writing style). Also he would then have to be able to answer each and every question of interview panel also !! which is not always the case...

Moreover due to this answer writing style and other factors(luck etc) , sometimes many people who are more knowledgeable doesn't get selected . We can't always say that the person who got selected are more knowledgeable that the ones who don't.

Being an IAS depends on whether you would clear the exam or not and clearing the exam depends on many factors..

You should be knowledgeable enough to clear all the phases of exam according to their specific needs ... You should need not be a god who knows everything.
No one in the world knows everything.
So pull up your socks !! :)>-
