Pilot v5 ink flow dries up while writing - Anyone else have issue?

Hi, based on recommendations of many people here and on quora, I have begun writing with pilot v5.

Initially, writing is really awesome, But after writinf for some times , ink flow stops and it does not come back. I tried with 3 pens similar issue happens every time.

Can anyone suggest any remedy? Or any other suitable pen?

  • Must be defective pieces. Hard luck.

For me they have been working perfectly and with the same flow till the ink finishes. This is one of the main reasons I have shifted to v5 for this mains. Wrote more than 500 pages of tests in the last one month with v5 without any hassles.

I've always ordered from Amazon, the 3 in one pack. So maybe you can try a different place of purchase?

Otherwise just go for a cheap ball pen, anything will do. I used rorito last year, worked great.
  • Thanks a lot
  • Which ink do you guys fill in pilot v5 ?? There comes one pilot ink costing just Rs 15.. and it's really worst.

V5 is not meant to be refilled. If you try and fill it, it may work for some time but ultimately it'll stop working after a few pages. V7 supports refilling but not v5.

So v5 might be costly for some people, it is use and throw. Retails at 60 per pen in my place. Online price is around 50 per pen. 3-4 pens should suffice for entire mains though.

This is the thing I was searching ever since I have been using this pen. :)

Oh! Ink flow stops because of temperature fluctuations..

It happened with me too. And there's a solution.

Take a lighter or match stick and "gently", i mean really gently, burn the "tip" of the nib. Take care that you dont melt anything beyond half of the nib.

Once you do that, let it cool for a minute or so. Wipe the black tar with something and scribble for at least "3 to 5 minutes" continuously, till you get back the same old buttery flow.

    It works perfectly after that.

In case you are worried that this may happen during mains, only solution is to carry multiple pens. But at home, you can follow this procedure and i can assure you that the pen will work just like it worked before.

    Cheers!

Well, my pen which was at least working has now stopped completely after following your instruction.

Don't give up so easily. Scribble more. I promise you it will write again. Scribble for 5 minutes at least and if it doesn't work, let me know. That is why i have emphasized on 3 to 5 minutes.

The same thing happened to me, somebody told me to do this and i got mad at them when i scribbled for like 30 seconds and it din't work.

But then when i kept on scribbling more, it eventually worked and worked perfectly for the rest of it's life.
