I am starting preparation after Bhaidooj for CSE 2019. I have strategy for optional in place and it is a static one. My concern is about GS papers, pre and mains. How can one cover backlog current affairs? Will Insight CA & Quiz and Vision monthly be enough? and secure for important editorials part?

Please don't understand that how I can suggest since I was also asking above! I was asking an another question. Since some people have replied me in detailed manner, I should also help others to the extent I can. Thinking this, I am replying you. You already have a strategy for your optional. Good. Now, coming to GS (Pre-cum-Main)
First go through syllabus of GS Prelims and GS Mains. Keep a copy of them with you always. Also, go through the previous years' questions of GS Prelims as well as Mains to understand the types of questions which are asked.
Sources: Don't go for many sources for the same subject. It not only applies to you who seem to be a fresher and have less time remaining for next year but also for everyone preparing for this exam. It's better to read one book five times than five books each once.
* Ancient Indian History- Old NCERT or alternatively go for India's ancient past by R S Sharma (Both are same) * Medieval Indian History- Old NCERT or alternatively go for Satish Chandra's book (Both are same) * Modern Indian History- A brief history of Modern India (Spectrum) * Art and Culture- Nitin Singhania * Geography- NCERT 9-12 and G C Leong and One Atlas. * Indian Polity- NCERT and M Laxmikanth * Economy- 1) Ramesh Singh or Sriram Economy. 2) Summary of Economic Survey. You may alternatively go for Mrunal BES lectures instead of reading summary of Economic Survey. * Ecology and Environment- Shankar IAS * Science- NCERT or TMH Manual * Ethics- Atul Garg Sir Notes
Do the rest topics of GS Mains from Vision Value Added Materials.
And now comes what you have precisely asked! About backlog Current Affairs. See practically it's not possible for you to do all the backlog Vision Monthly because that will need much time. So, what's the way? Ok. For months ahead, you may do the following for Current Affairs (Prelims).
1) Forum Factly 2) Current Affairs quiz by Insights and ForumIAS
Now for backlog current affairs, don't devote time specifically for them. Start doing only from the present months the above two things and in the end just go through Vision PT 365 which would cover all the current affairs of the months June-October, I mean backlog current affairs.
For Current Affairs (Mains): No need to devote time on the backlog part. Start reading newspapers. Go for The Hindu only. Or alternatively The Hindu complete + Editorial pages of Indian Express. Alternatively, you may read only Indian Express too. News go on repeating. So, any major issue which you missed from earlier months, you would surely come across them in future months. Don't do answer writing from now. First have an awareness of all the issues. For that read the newspapers particularly the editorials and revise them too. Revision is equally important.
Test series: You may join ForumIAS for Mains and for Vision/Insights for Prelims.
