Geography Optional performance in CSM 2017

Congrats to all who are selected with geography as optional. Please (whoever get selected with this unpredictable optional geography ) comment what have worked with you this year? Did you find the optional managebale?Or do you believe geography people has disadvanatage this year. It is my utmost request to those who are qualified this year to shed light on this(obviously after seeing marks). I have devoted 6 months completelly for this optional and left no stone unturned covering every book (Savindra ,rupa, coaching notes of ALS, VAJI, NEETU AND ALOK RANJAN and even guidance IAS), but still after this I found the Paper 1 somehow unmanagaebale not because of out of syllabus questions(although these type of questions come every year but in examination hall there is a pseudo psychological fear of not knowing things and loosing another year).

It is my request to those who are selected to share what worked for them?
1. High marks in GS/Essay/Personality test or combination
2. Optional alone
3. Average in all
