Philosophy vs Psychology?

I am preparing for CSE 2019 and trying to finalise my optional between Philosophy and Psychology. I have no background in any of them but almost equal interest in both of them. Until now, I've observed the following -

Philosophy
- short syllabus but this may be misleading since it is deep and may prove to be tricky to grasp.
- Most probably, it will require coaching.
- relatively objective paper
- Reading it may provide self satisfaction but that's not the primary goal.

Psychology
- I can prepare it through self study.
- Syllabus seems a bit vast but quite easy.
- Paper is quite general so marking can be dicey.
- More applicable in daily life.

What other factors should I consider? Any advice from seniors would be appreciated.

Even i am stuck in the same dilemma of deciding optional. I also ended up with 2 options - Psychology and Philosophy.
I am more inclined towards Philosophy owing to its usefulness in one's overall character, but from practical aspect, we cannot deny the fact that it has been performing really-really bad over last few years.

Hence, planning to go with Psychology.
What about u ?? What did u decide ?

Decide after marks are out...marks and paper difficulty are important parameters for choosing an optional apart from interest.

No marks are not important everyone has different strengths koi philosophy me top kar de that doesn't mean anyone n everyone can do..go for subject which is easy to understand u ll automatically Excel

There is only 2 criteria to finalize optional subject for CSE if one wish to get selected

1. Your interest n ability to mamage the subject, and
2. Marks that ur optional can yield


Everything else like size of syllabus, relevance in practical life, requirements of coaching or not is erroneous n meaningless for this exam.

So take call based on those 2 criteria only.

Bhai you can do masters in philosophy if interest is important for you. However, if you want to pass this stupid exam please re consider your opinion. Two years later you will remember this comment. Peace.

philosophy???brother remember one thing ie sab interest 2sal mein jhar jayenge...just look at the condition of philosophy from past 3yrs...single digit selections..I have been reading philosophy for 6yrs..3rd mains..frst intrvw..didnt get selected..bt problm was that questions were such that most of us didnt have any clue of what they are asking...ask @Arsenal752 he is selected..yet he is advising u against opting philosophy...be pragmatic and choose psychology..dnt run after those short syllabus myth..look at the condition..patanjali no ad regarding selection in cse 2017..mitras still putting athar aman ali khan ad..and nothing of current yr...so if u want to do masters u can opt for philo..bt if u want to get selected opt psycho

Though it's about pub. Ad. But condition is same.....2 mains 2 interview no selection .....but jae Kahan ....anthro and pol. Science m ab bheed itni ho gai Hai ...ki darr lagta Hai....kahin Agle Saal unki watt na lag jae... ab kis Raha jae.... clueless..
