I am not those types of people who would confuse you so i want to come straight to the point.Brother it is recommended not to leave your job and u are in a good position and indian bureaucracy is not the only place where u need to join.Agar job ke saath saath exam dene ka mauka mil raha hai aur sab kuch ho raha hai tab karte raho warna bhul jao.U said u are already in debt and there are issues and debt is one thing which will drive the nationalistic policies within u.(paise ki zarurat aisi hai jo kisi ke bhi rashtrawaadi khayalo ko bhaga degi).I am being rational brother.Look everybody cant be an Arvind Kejriwal or Kiran Bedi.Sab chor chaar ke sabko apni khwaish nahi milti.At times u should be practical also because U and U alone know yourself better.AAPKO APNE AAP SE BEHTAR KOI NAHI JANTA.NO ONE NOT EVEN YOUR OWN FAMILY.this is the truth and u need to accept it.

anyways dont worry much as luck may favour u and u might get an interview call..who knows!! be positive yaar aur preparation journey ko enjoy karo.Utna tension lene se jeene ka kya fayda when u dont experience everything smilingly including your problems and dilemmas.. :-bd
@abhinitb : I have a similar profile: 2009 graduate, worked 4 years in Europe. This year in April I got inclined towards civils. Left my job in September and shifted back to India in order to prepare full time. I can totally understand the difficulty in focusing on studies living abroad. Only you can decide what is best for yourself. If you think you are going on the right track then no need to change. Otherwise there are not many options besides giving 100% effort towards what you want (in case you are not able to do so presently). Cheers!

@abhinitb@singha In the same boat here. Studied and worked in the US, gave an attempt in 2012 while working, but found it difficult to manage two optionals (which I had zero prior knowledge of). Missed out on the interview by a few marks, thanks to a poor score in PubAd P1. Quit the job and studied full time for 2013. Mains went ok this time, hoping for an interview call.
Abhinitb-- be sure this is what you want before you quit the job. The new mains pattern is easier to manage while working and without access to coaching.
@friends Considering the questions asked by UPSC in this year mains it may be inferred that we can manage our preparation being in job. I have changed my mind for quitting my job. Just read the newspaper daily and be in sync with the issues involved. And the for the rest static part you have enough time if you can give 2-3 hrs daily.
@abhinitb : regret ki feel to nahi aayi abhi tak. The point is, there should not be any 'if or but' kind of situation after exam. Things like 'had I left job and prepared full time' etc. etc. should not pop up in your mind post exam.
The current pattern does look manageable with job if you can extract 4 hours/day for studies. But as I said before, in case you think you can do better, you should consider to quit. But make sure you maintain a good relation with your employer post resignation in case you want to go back, IMO .
bhai managing studies is not the difficult part, the difficult part is flying back to India for prelims and mains and getting vacations. Ideally 2014 mein prelims se mains tak ka off milna chahiye . Unfortunately wo mumkin nai hai idhar. Also, I realized, I lacked any writing practice which affected performance in mains. Writing practice bhi idhar rehkar kaafi mushkil lagta hai. singha bhai aap job kar rahe ho kya? I would guess studying and managing work would be more challenging in India because of commute time etc. etc. ? work culture issues?
@abhinitb Have you considered VisionIAS for writing practice? You can scan your answersheets and they will also scan the checked answers. They also sometimes put up answersheets of best-scorers so you can get an idea of the competition.
