It's based on so many things Ur prelims preparation, optional preparation, optional subject requirement etc.
But don't touch optional unless u r confident of clearing prelims (Based on ur past year performance or this year test series performance etc)
Incase u not able to concentrate on prelims GS preparation and want to spent few hours to optional it's fine. Better thing is do GS as whole both for prelims and mains. It ll help to devote more time to optional after June 3rd. This is better strategy than doing optional before prelims.
