Got into Tissnet 2018. How to prepare for pre interview test/GD and personal interview

edited January 2018 in Miscellaneous
I have written civil services exam 5 times with 3 mains. I have last attempt pending in this 2018. Uptill now i have spent 6 yrs of my life for upsc prep. I am completely exhausted and tired. After mains this year, i started writing various exams. I got thru tissnet with some 76 marks. I applied only for HRM course in Mumbai. I need to attend for round 2 and 3.

Can any 1 who knows/studied in tiss guide me for next round of preparation?

0) Does TISS has GD? They just mentioned pre interview test and interview. What does pre interview test consist of?

1)I did MTech from IIT Bombay in CSE and worked for 5 yrs in top IT companies
2) forwarded my resume to earlier companies. But could not get calls because of long gap.
3) how to cover this gap of 6 yrs? Earlier when i told that i have been preparing for upsc in bank interviews, they gave me some single digit marks in interviews. If i confess that i spent this much time for upsc, they may literally blast me in interview.
4) i have following Qns
They will definetely ask me
a) why TISS?
b) why HRM?
c) why this context switch from technical to HR - where is the link?

Pls suggest.

    Even I'd like to know.

Why TISS, HR and switch from Tech to HR?

Why not Executive MBA or State PSC?

    How young(old) are you?
  • 32. I just want some job. Decided to settle down. Executve MBA - not affordable for me at this point of time. GMAT test costs 17k i suppose. TISS is opportunity which i have in my hand. I wanted to make use of even the slightest chance. IIFT got some 95 percentile but did not clear sectional cutoff(Logical was 5.67. I got 5. My bad missed by 0.67 mark).
Age crossed limit for govt jobs. Not eligible for any but upsc this year.

How will you justify the gap during placement interviews at TISS?

Or the gap nullifies once we get into a B School?

If you complete your MA from Tiss, the earlier gap won't matter in placements, if that's what you are asking.

Even I took the test and just got through at 74 marks.
  • Yes that is what i am asking at
I do not know how to answer these
    1)why tiss
    2)why HR
    3)why technical and now HR
    4) how to fill gap? - if i say i prepared for upsc, they will screw me. Faced rejections earlier in bank interviews.
    5) He says pre interview test - will it contain GD. What is test all about? Will they filter here after this pre interview test?

Why Tiss. Why not IIMs or are you interested in HR ?

I have no interest as of now. I just wrote Tiss because I was free then.

    I beg to differ.

An Admissions director at a B School told me that I'll need to justify the gap during placements.

Nothing in life is absolute though. With bolstering of your resume and building up a strong profile by getting straight A and graduating with a 4.0, getting relevant certifications, odds can be turned in your favor.

    I got none, Sir.
