I haven't scanned the notes yet. That might happen next month.
This was my fourth attempt. I had realized that in the CSE one's scoring potential goes like this- Optional > Essay > Ethics > others.
Therefore this time I focussed on the optional paper extensively. I joined the test series conducted by Balasubramanyam of L2A in Old Rajinder Nagar. Joining a test series especially after prelims keeps you on track. It also helps you identify minute flaws in answer writing which if corrected can fetch a lot more marks overall. Balasubramanyam sir helped me with my preparation and a single one-on-one half an hour discussion showed me how I could improve my answers.
Generally an anthropology mains answer can be divided into 3 parts- 1. Introduction 2. Body 3. Conclusion. In the introduction, write the name of a prominent anthropologist connected with that topic and also some anthropological study. In the body, focus on the why aspect. In the conclusion, focus on the trend or the future. You can also draw a diagram to explain the answer.
I had notes for all topics except a few. For each topic I made notes of 2-3 pages. It contained information about some anthropologist related to that field and some study and also some diagrams in a few cases. Note making is the only way out in such a vast subject like anthropology.
I referred to standard text books and also IGNOU material. I had access to Braintree material, some material of Lakshmiah, some of Thiru Study Circle (Bangalore) and also of Balasubramanyam sir. Nadeem Hasnain's book is very essential to understand paper 2.
Thanks Sir. Few doubts. 1. Is it beneficial to draw diagrams of each answer? Does flowcharts help In any question if diagram is not feasible, like in tribal development? 2. For anthropologists and their studies: how much space should be dedicated?
I didn't draw for all questions. Only some, like in the Rhodesian Man question or types of descent etc. They say if you draw flowcharts it would be better. I too think so. But be prepared beforehand with the flowchart. It's very difficult to think creatively in the exam hall especially because you have to attempt all questions and that too thoroughly using most of the space provided.
For anthropologists and their works, 1 to 3 lines should suffice.

HI all, My optional is geography and I want to switch to anthropology. I am an engineering graduate and my biology is not so good.. I only covered it from GS point of view. Last year also I thought to switch but continued with the geo. I had a look at P .Nath to check about Physical Anthropology and it was like from other planet. However other parts like socio , cultural anthropology are ok . So should I go with this or geography would be better? If I should go with anthro, then what should be the strategy? like which part to cover first? How can I improve my bio portion? Which coaching / notes would be better ?
