Greetings everyone. After a lot of mind wreck on the choice of optional, I have finally jumped in for Anthropology. I aspire for 2018 CSE. I wanted the opinion of seniors on the coaching classes in Delhi or any place (if the coaching is worthwhile). Srinivas vs Vaid vs LaExcellence vs BrainTree or any other you think is good! Please let me know your feedback. I want to join a coaching asap. I will really appreciate your help if you can reply urgently. Thanks & Regards, First post on this forum. Waiting for your reply seniors.
@Paksh007 Hi I am also planning to change my optional from philosophy to anthropology.. Got very poor marks in mains 2016 i.e. 188.. please let me know about your strategy on how to go ahead for anthro..
Please do not take anthropology just thinking you'll get better marks. Please look at syllabus and see if you actually find it interesting and are willing to put in effort to dig up case studies and some obscure value additions.
@AnnikaGiannini yeah I know that, gone through different subject like psir and others & finally comes to anthro.. I have read the syllabus and gone through Braintree material for paper 2 and found interesting, looks like my cup of tea.. it's not because it fetches good marks but in long term you need to generate interest for the optional, I have tried a lot for philo but it's always half hearted and found quite subjective..
Anthro looks like objective and mix of static and dynamic, going for it.. don't want to waste my next attempt.. please help me.

Fine then. In that case, you have Braintree- its very comprehensive. You may get muniratnam for some extra points- if you want. That should be enough to get you going. You can get Nadeem Hasnain/Ember for some value additions. P Nath also is a must for some people. if you find Braintree's language annoying, learn from P Nath/Das/ any basic textbook and watch selected videos in Shomu's biology YouTube channel Just go according to syllabus and don't read extra unnecessary stuff. If you don't have bio background, do paper 1 in following sequence: 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.7, 1.4, 9.1, 9.2, 9.3, 9.4-- then continue normally from 1.8. Do molecular bio and genetics first and then evolution, primates and human bodies. Without genetics you won't understand evolution.

Thank you very much.. will try to keep it simple, first Braintree along with pyqs and if found anything missed or unable to comprehend from Braintree, will jump to other resources as suggested btw your marks in 2016 ?

mam could u elaborate on where u sourced diagrams from? is there any single source material for that one??
@Eiago For diagrams specific key word searches in google can help. Sosin notes have some- if you can download them only for that section then no need to buy. I am terribly lazy with diagrams so I'll always look for bare minimum
@lohanjyu I am a sort of beginner, not written mains yet, but I am Life science graduate that's how I know where to study some bio things from. One thing though, most toppers have used Nadeem Hasnain for paper 2- Indian Anthro and Tribal India so you may want to keep that in mind. Also selective reading of Xaxa and tribal affairs ministry report helps. Be warned Braintree bio can be fairly bheja fry even for science and med graduates- if not for you then that's great! If you can find concise sources on net, you may be able to manage without the texts- but the texts save you the trouble of excessive searching.
go through coaching notes , can be bought from flavido and buy standard books . Then study the chapters as per syllabus and make own notes .. This is it .
