pandey ji if you recollect, a candidate against sushma swaraj from vidisha "failed" to file his papers on time, does that mean congress has sympathy for swaraj
Actually it has been unsaid tradition among major parties to let the Big faces win without much effort. One may like or dislike it..but it's there.
ha yar thats true... infact there was one tradition to not even campaign in such seats...which was apprently broken by modi in amethi ( waise its a good thing) there should be no place for weak leadership /ideas in politics, and this could be a god way to cut them at their roots
Prime facie it may look like a bad tradition to some young political enthusiast..but if you think about it deeply..actually there is a good side to it also...
This all out political rivalry reaching to the level of brutal defeats and devastating political career of people who are at the upper end of party may have evolved in a bloody tradition of using once gained political power to settle all scores and ensure that he never leaves power. May be that would have evolved as a dictatorship and other bad political trends.
I am not justifying it..I am simply looking at it's pragmatic utility.
In my younger days I would have been brutal and begun with abusing such posts. But now I would only say that I thoroughly disagree with what has been proposed above.
I wrote a big post but decided against posting it. The long and short of it is this - such political moves have nothing to do with political ethos or noble intentions and any such result, if at all it transpires (which it doesn't as per me), is merely incidental. People who claim or think that there is no dictatorship are either naive or are already part of the oligarchy. There has always been a dictatorship of the elite. Look at things in a wider and holistic perspective and everything will become crystal clear.
