This is a question I'll take after I get selected. If your question is UPSC's concern, they can very well add "hindi knowledge" as one of the eligibility criteria for the exam.
And Mr KB Pandey, do you know Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Oriya, Bengali? If you don't know, how will you handle as a district magistrate in Tamil Nadu or Andhra or Telangana or Karnataka or Odisha or West Bengal? Kindly don't bring linguistic arguments here. I'm not against learning Hindi or any other language. But if I ask for translation, please don't give your gyan on importance of Hindi. Every language has its own unique features.
