Loll protest at pm residence was utterly idiotic, did they really think that they will be actually able to hold protest there. RSS and bjp played us for the fool we are , fact of the matter is that we were unlucky , experimemtations on a continuous basis did us in. There is so much that I can write but there isnt any point of writing is it now? Csat was a problem , English was never a problem. Simple solution would have been to reduce the overall waitage of csat . but protests happened and In a hasty illconcieved move they nullified the whole csat paper , then the whole fiasco of stupid gs 1 paper with absurd qs like kharai camel and chief secretary started ,personally I believe 2013paper was the best most balanced paper that the commission prepared( missed pre by 1 mark!!!). Yaar every exam be it cat xat NDA cds etc has an intrinsic character but post 2013 upsc became an exam which had no essential character . the goal that any exam taking body strives for is to design a paper in such a way that I minimizes the luck factor and discourages fluke attempts but to the contrary upsc in past few years has done just the opposite .
But as I said we were "unlucky" pattern will stabilize again maybe after few changes ( they will have to change the pre pattern sooner or later ) and all will be merry again , bas apna hutiya Kat gaya
Do agree with your version. Even if we curse our capacity and intelligence- there is another key factor which landed us to subsequent failures and that is the very steep reverse V turn. By going the very behavior of past two years papers 2015 and 2016, It seems as UPSC is simple doing KHANAPOORTI in Prelims. 90-100 Q. attempts has become a new trend. Even those , who have just appeared in the name of writing CSE are attempting 100/100. Even, an iota of such TUKKEBAAZS are capable enough to restrict the entry of section of capable aspirants and thus forcing them to demand compensatory attempts. It has become more or less Clerical type test. Before 2014, attempt of 70 Q was a safe and standard score, considering 1/3 as penalty. Now fear of negative attemot evaporated due to LUCENT CHHAP QUESTIONS and motivational booster by CSE Rank Holder- Mr. Roman Saini to maximize attempts, even if you are 0% sure for the answer with reasoning of 1/4 favorable probability. Prelims has become T20 now, where you have to hit without giving due consideration to gravity of Questions. Crossing this, you have to play Test(CSE Main). But score of aspirants like Mr. Wall can't show his class in Mains as they have strong defense but not ANDHADHUNDH hitting abilities. Even GS Paper from 2010-2014 forced Coachings and Aspirants to do ground analysis and to build fundamental clarity of topics. Last two years have ruined the very dignity of UPSC CSE. I remember there was a time, when section of candidates were feeling inferior even to apply for CSE, knowing it's gravity and fearing it's broad and deep syllable. They were apearingin SSC , Bank and other examination but not in UPSC. In past few year count of aspirants appearing CSE is spiked up. I have seen some aspirants clearing Prelims and getting below 50 in GS all four papers. "CSAT bhee bhar dete saath saath"- with such perception, score of aspirant flooding and making the battle field swampy. In addition, there are some experts in the market who render capsule and crash courses such as 365 current. "Clear Preliminary in one week" kindof subtle has flooded up the market. UPSC must have to do something to retain it's dignity other wise It will miss the so called tag of Mother of All Examination.

Agree with you 100%, I have ransacked my brain umpteen number of times to find out where I lack in my studies and lo and behold there isn't anything wrong with the level of my prep. The paper is not tough its the people like Mr saini who have a well established career are graduates from iit s and iims have no worry about their future life as they already have a lucrative career , they give this exam just for kicks and the attempt almost all qs without a care in the world , its them who distort the cutoff moreover as you rightly said firstimers , SSC bank po aspirants they messed it up for us , no candidate here can solve more than 60 to 65 qs in gs with 100 % surety of his answers being correct, but people do clear it and we didn't .
