is case me yeh ladki hai ki nahi woh alag matter hai. but your observation is spot on.
if a girl asks something and you know that its not going to happen and you outrightly say no than she interprets that you are not a fighter kind of a guy. these days girls under heavy influence of movies and social media messages etc. expects a his boyfriend/friend to go THAT EXTRA MILE,/ fight till the last/ jee jaan laga de..etc...etc. otherwise she is going to ask someone else and may accuse the guy of not being the street smart person. ladke bichare khud ke liye jitni mahenat nahi karte us se double mahenat ladki ke liye kare to bhi ladki ko aisa hi lagta hai ki puri efforts nahi kari. isliye life me gf/wife ko khush rakhna ho to thodi acting seekh hi leni chahiye. :-)
Bhai baat ko kaha se kaha le ja rahe ho. Hum logon ko sirf apne attempt se matlab hai. Fir information, ladka de, ladki de, transgender de ya gay... hame kya karna hai. This movement for extra attempt started in Nov 2015. Now after one year 3 months nothing concrete has happened. Always this movement relied upon back door talk with some so called influential people. Affected people were never interested to come on field for protest. Now only one day left for notification, lets see if some miracle can happen in this one day.
