How to read Ember & Ember?

Guys, pls help i have just started my anthro preparation. People say that we should read ember and ember first for conceptual clarity and getting the hang of the subject. My question is how do we read this thick voluminous book. what are things to keep in mind while reading this and how many readings we should give before moving on to other books?

  • @Walterwhite, I suggest, first give a thorough reading of syllabus. Then go through the previous UPSC anthropology mains papers twice. And then if you are not going for any coaching classes then first start reading Ember chapter wise, ie one chapter a day, just as you read the newspaper (by this I mean, You shouldn't read it as a novel nor as a college guide book). Once if your done with the reading, you would get a feel of what anthropology is all about. Then get back here, if you have any doubts.

  • @walter white - Ember and Ember is of the social cultural aspects discussed and analysed , should be used as the reference book but must read cultural topics from chapter 13 to 28 is must in that book.
