"Shed your VALUABLE EXPERIENCE to contribute towards a cause"

My Dear Senior/junior Brothers and Sisters,
I would like you all to shed your valuable experience in one or two lines reply regarding your views about necessity and criticality of taking Philosophy's coaching/or not.

Actually i have been living in Delhi since last November and was trying to get through this exam(opting Geography as my optional). Unfortunately as happens with many i couldn't even sailed through Prelims 2016. Few months back i tried with Philosophy optional which i found quite familiar and i believed that i can do best in this. During this whole course of time while staying in Delhi, i confronted many health issues(Considering my immunity issue, not blaming Delhi pollution etc.) and developed fistula too.

Being married and blessed with 3+ year daughter, i am planning to leave Delhi and need your experience and views which can help to make up my mind and take a firm decision(most probably before Diwali), that "can without taking coaching(optional), relying only on electronic platforms and available material/books in the market and practicing mains answers writing on such platforms, it is possible to secure decent marks"

Interlocking self with age criterion of 32 years decided by UPSC (now self being 30+) considering all ups and downs during preparations phase, would not be a wise decision or i should go ahead?

Reasons for leaving Delhi: I think i can better be taken care there and will not be compromising with my body anymore.

The place where i will be moving is a good district with all facility like WiFi and news papers.

I couldn't think much better option rather to write down here at this time(4:08 AM) with my running nose. I request the readers to please reply me the your's practical view, which i will surely adopt. Kindly give one reply. I will wait.

With Warm Regards,
Akhilesh Khurana

Akhilesh bhai, u hv posted a good case study the likes of which are asked in mains' GS-4

IMHO you should move to the new place ie. leave Delhi. In any case, personal well-being is of utmost importance. Everything- family, preparation, future etc. - depends on ur good health. Without that u won't be abe to concentrate on anything.

    All the best...
  • I don't know much abt philosophy coaching, but I do know what matters in this exam is staying fighting fit. So take care of ur health and keep studying.
  • @vainy123 ask Kumar Harsh AIR 43 I guess. He did it without taking any philosophy optional coaching
  • @fieryfiesta I saw an eloquent writeup on Mitras Philosophy by Kumar Harsh few days ago :P
  • @dragon_born Dhokha!!! :'(
    Et he Brute
  • @fieryfiesta just putting things into perspective

@OP on a serious note, there is nothing wrong in taking coaching. Just go through the syllabus, read few basic books et.al. and gauge if you can grasp most of it without help. If you can, then go ahead and if you cant, get yourself enrolled....

AFAIK, They wrap up the entire syllabus in 2-2.5 months...
  • duniya mein aise kon sa subject hai jo without coaching nahi kiya ja sakta hai
in fact if any one is opting for Social sciences subject Not joining any coaching is blessing in disguise as it allows you to write original answers. which could fetch u a better score
  • I do really thanks to all who posted and exhorted me with their replies regarding my concern.
@pks11630 and @Eiago : I do agree with you my brother and i really thankful to you for your suggestions.
@Arkham2 : I do agree with you too, as this is one of the obsession which sails aspirants towards success and yes these words saves us for becoming enfeebled.
@OP: Thanks for your views. I am going as per your words. Reason is below:

I went to Mitra's and Patanjali's ( as i have heard a lot about these two only) doors today with confusions as you know to sort out my concern finally in a better manner but all went in vain, i couldn't get my answer there. Fortunately i heard two guys when i was taking tea(mentioning here as in fistula doctors generally used to prescribe tea avoiding, but i had to as i had not taken my lunch till that, any way) chanting over IAS officer's life in Punjab.

Listening word "Punjab" i got a chance and didn't missed it(as i have been there since long during my 3*660 MW green field thermal power plant project work, Punjab's biggest plant) and not by coincidentally, one of the fellow among them was an IRS officer 2015 batch, Mr. Brajbhooshan Pandey, who had Philosophy optional(Hindi Medium).

I was very happy to meet a person first time in my life who is in service. He guided me and warned against both. He asked me to meet Yashwant sir from Nishchay IAS, the name i haven't never heard before from my limited sources. I met him and yes i was quite satisfied as he teaches bilingually. From 3rd November he will commence his session and asked me to try first for two days. I think this is the destination for me set by destiny too(because of all these connected incidences)

Giving my decision a practical approach too, and being habitual of not believing anybody easily( because of my corporate experience) i searched Mr. Brajbhooshan Pandey on Facebook as asked by him only, and after seeing his interviews on you tube, YES he was, what he was saying.

I wish we all can get right tutor and right direction which is of utmost importance today in this big business market.

Wrapping up here my thread and urging you to correct me if i am wrong anywhere based on your views.

    Thanks and With warm regards,
    Ak
