Kindly guide us with one of the most common dilemma that many aspirants face while filling services preference in DAF.
We will really appreciate if some of you (who are in service) can give a first hand experience that could help aspirants to make a more informed decision will applying for both prestigious services.
Generally people fill IRS IT above C&CE. Both have their own perks. Old: c&ce had many sub dept under it eg service tax, narcotics, customs, IPR to name a few. Although is a uniformed job but uniform is worn only on certain occasions. New: after gst future of c&ce is uncertain or so is believed by many officers of c&ce. IRS IT: believed to be a more desk oriented job and has rigorous training like u r studying in college again. But generally has better work and living infrastructure than c&ce. But yes exceptions are there. Everyone is afraid of an IT officer but only businessmen are afraid of c&ce (if thats a criteria for judgement for u).
But yes some people prefer C&CE over IT bcoz of its less desk oriented job profile than IT.
though i am not in any service but i had one frnd/(our colony frnd/school senior) who was selected in 2013 batch and he is posted at surat asst comm income tax i don't know yeh iss platform par share karna chahye ya nahi but i have seen personally the luxurious life he is living , woh wahan se yahan har months mai 2 bar aata hai flight se , (salary not more than 50 k still coming ) uske papa ke ek general store hai buss , 2014 mai honda city car liya n iss sal hamare yahan ki sabse costly society mai plot liya that is around 75-80 lakh cost ka uski service time mai itna possible nhi hai firr bhi he managed all that gar par itni facilty hai ke hotel lagta hai ab gar I have also heard woh kisi dealer ke gar par hi rehta hai surat mai (rent free house ) he has told me that in cities like indore, ahmedabadh , surat , gandhidam etc irs it has power more than ias ips and has told that custom mai atleast 6-7 year ke service ke badh real power aata hai because the business that are covered under customs n excise directly deal with big officers only may be i am wrong please i am only sharing what i have seen mai iske against hu firr bhi kuch logo ke lie i am sharing this
