This actually happened in IISER, Pune in 2008 or 9. A physics guy hacked university server and uploaded a modified marksheet, increasing his own GPA. Everything went fine until he himself panicked a week later and reported it to college authorities !! Got suspended for a month. Poor guy...

Nothing of the sort. The forum is very much in the control of root and the mods/supermods who were deleted are back with different names. Things are being restored priority wise, but it will undoubtedly take some time.

I guess ForumIAS already uses Linux server as we can see the Ubuntu error pages..An easy way one could execute scripts on the server side could be, by using comments etc..Inputs going to server may need to be sanitized before storing
Exactly.. Ye comment box mei the code should identify and return malicious code as invalid text. Also that hacker was saying some vulnerabiliry regarding redirect in login url.. He could tamper the post processing request and redirect to his own php page. I hope they fix at least these two quickly.
