kyon Fusion nuclear reactor se india ko fayda nahi hoga kya? advantage r many of fusion reactor. 2ndly what is stopping india to moving thorium based reactor? Even after ITER success that problem will remain. The problem is sufficient stockpile of plutonium. That's why 3 stage nuclear program-me. waise upsc ki icha
aur us tarah se toh fission reactor ki efficiency bhi badh jayegi kyonki tab toh jo bhi fertile material bhi honge unko bhi fissile bana denge neutron mar ke ans - a,c or d.
As per ur link provided, one paragraph says about neutron sources obtained from fusion projects could be used for thorium as fuel since india has large reserve

When the question says "thermonuclear", there is hardly any scope to think, except in the direction of "fusion".

It ultimately depnds from where upsc has set the questions , if that have set from any article which doesn't have thorium cycle then answer is D because upsc gave all other 3 options related to nuclear so that u might get confused but straight forward is that fusion is far superior than fission process and thorium is in fission process not in a fusion, so answer is D.
And i read everything given on ITER site and nothing is mentioned about thorium. Its a different process all together and if some can use thorium there is no need for ITER to get a sucess in near future.
Thorium cycle has been discussed since last 3 decades but its fusion which doesnt have got any sucess regarding nuclear reactor so obviously fusion is the new demand in coming future so every body is focusiing on it. Fusion has less leakage problem compared to thorium and thats why it has been demanded by countries to go for some reasearch on it as its much more benefical to mankind.
