Is PSIR more scoring optional than history for self study

Hi ,

Took 2015 CSM with history optional (total self study without any coaching , test series or any writing practice and seems the position will remain same in the future also) and scored a meager 180(paper1+paper2).

Now thinking of taking PSIR as the optional . So my queries are :
1).For my situation (no coaching , test series) , is PSIR an appropriate optional for self study ?
2).Based on the previous years , is it more scoring than History ?
3).Please recommend me some books for both the papers.
4).How much approx time would that take to complete the entire syllabus ?

I don't think so. From what I have read on this forum Political Science will get destroyed like Pub Ad as the number for people taking this optional has went up drastically.

Last year 1000 people wrote mains in psir
This year 750 students joined batch 1 of polsci test series at vajiram. Batch 2 is also starting

180 marks in 1st attempt is good in 2015 std.
even psir top 100 ranker are in 180-90 range (that too in 3rd 4th attempt) u will see when detailed marksheet will be out.

Anthropology is best.

bhai tum kyu nhi le rahe ho anthro..

From socio geography n pub ad...now all I here n see is pol sci so in that regard butchering in coming year or two is very likely.. Else subject is interesting whole gs2 cover along with some if ethics n one essay...but anthro be a better n safer choice

pehle pata karo last year anthro ka kya haal tha.. achhe acche log like avinash stuart little sir RDDR etc . in their 3rd and 4th attempt merely scored in 220s.. despite all of them gave interviews.. grass is always greener on other side.. atleast pol science ka subject material available h and coachings bhi.. it took me long enough to get hold on subject

220s is not mere score in pol sci be it 3rd attempt or 4th attempt.
rest every subject has pro and cons.
in humanity (no background needed type subject) law and literature (if one has required aptitude) are safest option.
in low scoring yr sci and engineering optional has upper edge.
only way out is 2014 type marking which needs popular pressure via petition to upsc .

Bhai anthropology ki coaching ke paise dedo abhi le lu.

anthro ki coaching k reviews padh lo bhai.. paise dubane h toh baat alag h,, anthro is no pol science.. isme koi shubhra ranjan nhi h.. sab fraud h.. sab log self study hi bolenge.. and add to it the biology aspect and no overlap with GS.. grass is always greener on other side..
