Since 2 years, UPSC has been asking the places of conflict zones.. like in 2014 they asked where is swat valley and in 2015 about Golan heights, place not touching Mediterranean, chronological order of some cities from north to south Vietnam Jakarta Bangkok etc... Keep an eye over that...

^^ be specific while preparing for prelims... we don't have to prepare whole physiography of the world... some imp ones, if some places that have any relation with India and some which have been in news... it's very difficult to remember the list that you have given, leave about the contents belong to the list... Haha, just kidding... I am sure you have your own approach(similar or different) that works for you...

Agree 99% they ask the place which was in news in recent past, but i am just trying to avoid any risk. #Do or die for me.

Hmm... I mentioned about some imp places too, like they asked in 2013 about atlas mountain that where is it... Actually I scared while reading in your comment that places to be remembered on the basis of latitude and longitude... at best I can roughly remember some imp places(also which have in news) on north south east west basis, or form equator or from tropic of cancer in chronological order... on the basis of latitude and longitude, this much precise is too much for me esp when there are so many other things to remember.. But yours are of course a fool proof preparation strategy... All the best mate...
