Which chapters to read from India year book 2016?

What to read and what to skip? Don't want to read anything which is already mentioned in standard books.

Comments

  • Agri,water resources,women n youth empowerment,polity,environment... :)
  • Before reading India Year Book (IYB) it is good to know the purpose of the book. It is advised to read the IYB instead of referring other sources for IYB.
Generally factual questions are directly picked from the IYB as it exactly appears in the book. For example you can refer to one of the questions asked in UPSC prelims 2014 about chaitra masa.
Go through every chapters of IYB as the information provided is important for both UPSC prelims and mains exam and relate those with the UPSC Syllabus.
Don’t try to grasp the factual data like numbers from IYB as these will be of previous years.
While reading a particular chapter from IYB always also visit that relevant ministry website and read the new schemes launched in the ministry.
To cover the IYB completely and effectively, it is always a good idea to take the help of fellow IAS aspirants or of any institutes or faculty who can guide and assist you in identifying important points from the India Year Book, as this will save your time as well as you can cover IYB effectively.
