This incident happened 4 days ago:
A neighbor of us had put on DJ to a notoriously high level of noise at around 20:00. I called on 100 at around 21:00 and told that the noise was very troubling; I was told to call again after 22:00. Between 22:00 to 22:40 i made around 7-8 calls at 100, but no one picked up. I went to the pandal in front of neighbor's house, where the DJ was being played, and called up the neighbor and told him I was troubled by this noise, so either decrease the volume, or stop it now as it's alraedy getting close to eleven in the night. On his refusal, I told him I'll have to dial 100 if the noise continues. At this he got hold of me, and pounced on me, other people present there, mostly drunk, started thrashing me. My mom seeing I was taken hold of, also came out of the house to the place; I along with my mom rushed back to the house while this crowd of some 20-odd people also pushed into the house, while me and my mom were struggling to bolt the gate of our house. I was kicked in my stomach, while my mom got a small cut on the inside of her elbow on this struggle. Unable to get them out, we joined our hands, asked forgivance, insisted there is no one else in the house; Please leave. We were warned 'koi kaaryavaahi kee to anjaam bhugatne ko taiyaar rahna' accompanied by reference which is communal in its hue, while xenophobic rant and threat of violence were being hurled in the background by others, most of which i don't even remember. We managed to bolt up the gate.
I called on 100. No one picked up. I called 1091 (women helpline), a lady picked up. I told her about the incident. Some1 from police called back after a few minutes and I told him about the incident. He said we need to come over to thana to register FIR, I had to talk aggressively at this, but seeing this attitude, I called back 1091, the same lady picked up. And assured us we don't need to come to thana and statement will be taken on the spot itself, while also calling up that police personnel during the call.
The later proceeding i would just summarize as a display of ignorance and carelessness of the police persons that came, including assurances to the culprits that a "dotarfa maamla" can be registered, while the ASI that came later kept giving reference of the 'real' cases where 'ikk baanh utthe sutti hundi hai, te ikk baanh utthe (one arm is thrown here, and the other lies far there) against this trivial incident, for which he had to come at this late hour from so far a distance. Amid all this, we managed to get our statement recorded. wherein only the 3-4 people that were still there of the neighbor's house could be named in the statement as others had slipped away in the meanwhile in presence of police, though i had insisted for about half an hour that I don't know any1's name and want to identify the culprits there and then.
This incident is of sunday night. This is the fourth day since that traumatic night. I don't want to bother myself anymore with anything other than UPSC. I hope having got the statement recorded, the incident goes to whatever logical end without my further involvement. But i fear restitution that may come my away in form of any counter-FIR, or 'maanhaani kaa mukaddama' as i have heard the neighbors are bracing for.
I have been trying to keep my head clear, but it is getting diificult to concentrate. In hindsight i think may be i should have just kept my head burried in the sand like the other ostriches of the locality. I also fear my prospects as an aspirant who may have a case registered against him, and my debarment from selection due to this.

Coming to the solution..
No one can stop you from joining a service until you are convicted in the court. An fir against you doesnt make you disqualified in the exam. Also, what fir will they file? Nobody got hurt their.. Where as there are injuries on your side.. Dont worry.. You can easily defend yourself.. Remember you stood for right thing and you dont have to worry..it wasnt your fault.. If it was dj.. Then whole colony would have heard the sound.. So that is one evidence.. Also you can ask the officer to trace the sound system guys who provided them the set and question them.. For your mental peace, if you know anyone higher in your district/city police heirarchy.. Tell them that you are an aspirant and how you were not at fault.. Tell a false fir can spoil your preparations.. So he will suggest the concerned inspector to not file an fir against you without proof.. If you dont know anyone.. Meet a young ips officer in your place.. They will understand your situation
This is what I feel, others please feel free to correct:
1) Even if an FIR is lodged against you, it does not debar you from selection. FIR is simply an incident report which requires a police officer to investigate the matter, under relevant provisions. Both parties are innocent until proven guilty and hence until the final court ruling, you cannot be debarred from any selection, simply because you are innocent from an objective perspective.
2) Based on your location, if further harassment happens, use social media. Tweet it using the ASI's name (even if you have to use the PMO handle) + send a mail to the chief justice of your state high court and your district SP, keeping some media houses in the loop. I know of 1 case in which a proactive SP gave an inspector a solid dressing down in front of the aggrieved party. If your district is blessed with such an SP, trust me the ASI is going to regret every word of his.
Lastly, treat this incident as an act where you showed those qualities that are desired in an IAS/IPS officer. You took a stand and when situation got out of hand, you weren't obstinate and adjusted to the best of your judgement (we joined our hands, asked forgivenance). Now that you have shown these qualities, its time to prepare for the exam that will pave the way for you to put your qualities to better use + remember the ASI's name when you prepare. so be aware in future ..
And if you think this matter is going to heat up in upcoming days then go and talk to a lawyer in advance. Keep in mind that the lawyer may charge some sort of consultation fees.
I think i shud not worry, and keep preparations on as usual, or actually on the faster pedal, as there are only 100 days to pre.
This was a lesson, and an experience for me, that is that. So keeping it simple, jisko jo ukhadna hai, ukhadne mei laga rahe.

its high time IPS recruits are passed through SSB instead of civil service exam if you are wearing a uniform you should have officer like qualities to lead your men, IPS should be based on a easy preliminary exam like CDS and then SSB interview, I think then we will get high quality IPS
