1) The results will be compiled in this week but
will be out on july 3rd week at best not before that.. but last week of
july confirmed if in case 3rd week of july disappoints us.
2) OMR sheets have been checked completely and I was told some manual
checking is also done, possibly our signatures etc., (I did not cross
examine him as regards manual checking) but he said it is confirmed that
it is 210 marks for General merit.. since I am in the receiving end of
the table I cannot further probe him..Yes, he did tell me that sectional
cut off would be different for categories ( I did not probe him further
on this issue as well). My source is not from Secretary level.. so
the best way is to just phone up farid or Neigy tomorrow and just
enquire about minimum qualifying marks.. this is just to cross check..
3)After Sectional Cut off.. General (210) OBC (195) SC (190) ST (185)....
For general 70 marks in paper I (35%).. authentic info
4)1) Result on 22 - 25 July 2013
2) Sectional cut off in paper 1 - approximately 70 marks
3) Cut off for CSE may fall to about 200 due to sectional cut off (intelligent guess)
4) IFoS cut off will be higher than CSE cut off
5) 13500+ selections for CSE
Guys just called on below numbers..and asked for Individual cutoff..the person told me he can't tell me anything on that.. result last week he said..

I don't think they should keep it more than 50, in order to weed out abnormal scores like 40+180 or 30+190. A score of 65+170 or something is legitimate and deserves to qualify.
Sectional cut-offs are the 'minimum' marks to qualify.
Say there is sectional cut-off of 60 marks in paper-1 then one has to score minimum 60 marks in paper to qualify irrespective of one's total score.
Don't panic, there can't be sectional cutoff in any case if that clause was not mentioned before the exam was conducted,
Students decide their strategy with norms provided in notification, so suddenly they can't change it.
1.35 lakh being sent up to the next level from where about 20,000 would qualify mains, works out to 6-7 times of required number being sent up for CSM.
But one thing about UPSC perplexes me - if everything is compiled, why wait 2 more weeks to come out with the results?
You are both correct and wrong...
The wrong part is "norms provided in notification, so suddenly they can't change it. " actually notification is just a synopsis of "The Rules of Examination" Published in the Gazette of India (Extraordinary)
The correct part is "They can't change the rules of the exam, Retrospectively" and those rules clearly states that
"Note I : The Commission will draw a list of candidates to be
qualified for Civil Services (Main) Examination based on the
total qualifying marks as may be determined by the
Commission, of the two papers put together."
Refer Appendix I -> Section I -> Plan of the examination -> Note : 1
and nothing about minimum qualifying marks for prelims, its repeatedly mentioned in mains not in prelims
If they however violate the rules they published we can take them till supreme court and win...
This won't be considered a frivolous suit like the "UPSC gave me low marks in mains" lawsuits...
BTW My Score in P-I is around 50-60
