I belong to Ghaziabad and currently working as Assistant Director in Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), New Delhi. I am selected as DySP in UP-PCS 2015. DySP was my 2nd choice after SDM but then I had hardly any information about the post preferences in UPPSC as it was new to me as I was mainly focused on UPSC (3 Mains, 1 Interview). Could you please point out the pros and cons of DySP post? Should I join DySP? All relatives and majority of the friends are saying go for DySP. Inputs needed.
PS: I am B.Tech from IIT Delhi and its been over 6 years since I passed out from college (4 years private job, 2 years at BIS)
Comments
1. Social prestige, respect, uniform job
2. Facilities such as house, car etc.
3. Promotion to IPS
4. You will always work in your home state
Cons:-
1.political interference
2. All India services have safeguards against suspension, transfer but not state services
3. Promotion to IPS is slow(minimum 15-18 years). For more information you can see civil list of IPS officers in UP. There you can see list of people recruited from sps and they have reached till IG level(however it depends on various conditions but you can at least become DIG before retirement
4. No option of deputation or working in Delhi
Conclusion:- you should go for this post but remain neutral while in service. Also you can side by side prepare for upsc and uppsc for SDM post but dySP is also administrative job. Since it was your 2nd preferrence, you can get SDM post in next attempt easily but till then, join this
Enjoy the immense power n presitge, its a v. good job.
