working as a bank po while being an upsc aspirant:
    pros
    1.you have a backup
2.if you are in credit dept or forex etc it ll enhance your knowledge about economics and international finance.
3.you can communicate with lots of ppl if u r n front end sometimes bpl families.it ll make u 2 understand the reality.
    4.ll learn 2 handle stress.
5.if your manager is good or if you are in a new or small branch, you have chances to leave by 6,and of course occasional readings on your tab or desktops.

    cons:
    1.work is very very tiresome.
2.some customers can irritate you to the core.
3.managers may not be understanding.if that is the case then availing leave and leaving early would be a big problem.
4.quitting also would become a problem because most of the scheduled banks have bond and if you have to break it then you ought to pay huge sum as compensation.
5.you can be posted anywhere across India and sometimes in rural areas.therefore it will be increasingly difficult to access resources.

This is my personal opinion. An officer in a bank enjoys very high social status. At the end of the day its your choice.

    All the very best

In most of the banks privilege leave will be credited only at the end of nine months.Regarding extraordinary leave, you can avail extraordinary leave at loss of pay but few banks have some norms wrt that like you should have worked continuously for 2 months then you can avail el.it differs from bank to bank so contact your hr department .
