B school interview after year gap(s) due to civil services

Is there anyone who has given B-school interviews after appearing in the civil services exam ?

It would be really helpful if you can share your experiences. What kind of question did the panel ask? On what specific aspects were you grilled?

TIA

  • I attended IRMA interview after 2-3 year gap. They didn't see it as a negative. Most of interview was on social and rural issues.
  • Plz enlighten what if we disclose real reason for drop . that is prep for upsc. I too have an year gap
  • @bhaz : thank you so much for replying. Did they grill you on following questions

    1) Why leave civil services prep? Are you giving up? or something on these lines
    2) How much deep did they go in your optional?
  • I graduated from an average engineering college on 2010 and joined TCS where I worked for 20 months. While in TCS, I appeared for SSC CGL 2011 and got selected for the post of income tax inspector. After joining, I started with my civil services preparation, however, I have not been successful so far in cracking it. I have taken CAT a couple of times and was selected for all the new IIM(s) in 2013 but decided against joining keeping civil services in mind.

My question is that in case I don't Crack UPSC, should I go try for executive mba from some top college or should I stick to my current job?
