[Interview Prep] All DAVian requested here - pls help in formulating questions about the insitution.

Hey
I am an alumnus of DAV. Given the enormity of history related to the institution and Arya Samaj movement, I request every DAVian here to help in formulating questions about the institution that can be asked in the interview.

I have thought of a few myself:

1. Shuddhi movement and its significance today? Is ghar-wapsi affected by this movement?
2. Samaj's Blending of western principles with Vedic culture - has it been successful?
3. Are current DAV institutions working towards Dayanand Saraswati's social or religious vision or have they lost their way?
4. Do you agree with infallibility of Vedas and the fact about their divine revelation? How is this view different from Ram Mohan Roy's conception of these scriptures?
5. Gandhi's views on Arya Samaj and contribution of Samaj to national movement for independence.

Kindly give your opinions on these questions while adding more questions to the list. Thanks for your time!

  • splitting of arya samaj, role of dayanand saraswati in hindu renaissance, content of satyarth prakash
  • Imho they never delve into religious issues. All they can ask is history of the institution, famous personalities associated with it, global presence etc
  • aryasamaj ke 10 niyam :D
  • a place for inter caste marriage
  • @TonyStark Arya Samaj began as conception of Swami Dayanand Saraswati who was appalled at the kind of divisions that have crept among Hindus. Caste division was one such prominent division and this is why his broad vision of equality has a dominant factor of caste equality. To move forward towards this vision, Arya Samaj took upon itself to conduct inter-caste marriages that have an effect on blurring caste lines and hence promote Swami's vision. They have legal experts to help couples through the process. these marriages are solemnised under Arya Samaj Validation Act 1937 and Hindu Marriage Act 1955. Also, as Arya Samaj is against dowry, marriage is solemnized without any dowry.
Do we need to add more to it?

@6Smileys I agree that they don't usually ask religion related stuff but DAV/Arya Samaj have a lot of social undercurrents like inter-caste marriage thing pointed out by TonyStark. Also, Mrunal pointed out once that this ghar-wapsi thing can be asked by some eccentric panel. I found it to be related to Shuddhi movement in some way and hence to Dav background, that's why put up here

@TheWhiteTiger I just glanced through those niyams. they're related to omnipotence of God and infallibility of Vedas, accepting truth, dispelling ignorance, spirit of welfare, dictates of Dharma, etc. Honestly, if such a question is asked, I'll feign not knowing those instead of answering because each of these Niyams is giving rise to 10 more questions
  • @gunaho_kaNapolean the split that you mentioned is that of 1893 only na? Over eating meat.
  • sorry, i dnt have much idea... a bit poor in history stuff...just knew that one of my fren got married in arya samaj mandir :)
  • @gunaho_kaNapolean the split that you mentioned is that of 1893 only na? Over eating meat.
    yes
  • @gunaho_kaNapolean the split that you mentioned is that of 1893 only na? Over eating meat.
    yes
Okay. Did this split cast any long term impact on arya samaj movement? And is there dominance of one of these groups currently or both exist peacefully? I couldn't find much on this split issue, that's y asking
